Malty, but muted nose. Clear bronze tan. Filmy, bone-colored head. Good tap handle. Coconut and lemongrass (or lime leaves) up front. Parched malt, savory and mineral tones. This has an unpleasant bittering that kinda sticks on the back corners of the tongue. Finishes out with a toasty coconut oil coating on my tongue. Interesting, worth a try. On tap, Whole Foods, Tallahassee.

Pours copper with a medium white head. Aroma is mild hops - not much else. Taste is actually pretty interesting with bitter earthy hops up front and a lingering bitter finish barely revealing the ginger. If earth could come in the form of a beer, this would be it.

an interesting experiment, what with hops and ginger mingling, but really pretty odd.

On draft at the brewery. Pours golden orange color, clear, with a very small white head. Not much aroma going on here with light bitter pine and some other unrecognizable faint aromas. Flavor is some bready malts, light grass and line hop, not much influence of the adjuncts, a slightly dirty finish. Medium bodied, slightly resinous, with medium carbonation. Not bad but not exciting and the expected flavors don't really add much or come through in any interesting way.

On draft at Brewers’ Ball 2013. Pours a hazy yellow-orange with a white head. Nose is nice caramel backbone with a bit of spice and some mild heat. Flavor follows with nice big caramel and some spices with mild heat, some grapefruit, and a mild bitter finish. Medium in body and nice overall.

Clear orange in red in color. Notes of cereal on the aroma with a feeling of under brush. Roasted hop feel on the palate. Earth and pine hops. Good overall.

PorterPounder (5542) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - DEC 21, 2012
Tallahassee, Fl - on tap at Proof Brewing Company. Dark copper pour, thick sticky white head. Aroma has a nice spruce presence. Bold flavor with plenty of citrus bitter goodness, some juicy fruit gum sweetness and a back end of spearmint. Mouthfeel is thick and sticky.

Growler from Proof. Gold pour with a thin white and spotty lacing. Aroma is spicy, ginger and floral hops. Tastes are caramel malt, pine, citrus rind, woody, herbal and peppery spices. Kind of a lot going on in the finish - hard to decipher. Dries out with long bitter aftertaste. Ok.

UPDATED: DEC 13, 2012 Pours a slightly hazy copper on tap with a frothy off-white head that dissipates to leave light lacing. Aroma of citrus from hops and slight spicy notes, curry meets cedar. Taste is way more of the cedar spiciness than the smell, with good citrus and coconut notes. Pretty good, a little thin on the tongue.
