3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a dark brown/red and a little hazy. Aroma is smoked wood, dark cherry, and nuts. Taste was pure smoke and hints of nut and chocolate. Not my favorite style and this was too smokey for me. A little lighter on that and it might have been ok. Medium to full body and filling so I split with a friend.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours an opaque sable with a fairly thick tan head. Aroma had notes of smoky malt, roast coffee, molasses, and yeast. Smoky flavor has earthy, roast coffee, malty, unsweetened chocolate, molasses, yeasty and nutty notes. Texture is fizzy and fairly firm, leaving a smoky finish. Send up a smoke signal for one.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle via Eric: Pours a medium brown with a small but lasting head and okay lace. Light but aware smoke over a layer of cherry pits and walnuts. Some unique bitterness and tobacco earthiness. While I don’t expect Porters to be full bodied this is thin even for this style, it is lively and finishes with the expected ashy feel. A nice beer but hardly newsworthy which makes me sad because I love Alderwood Smoked malt.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Swamp Head Smoke Signal is a great take on a style you don’t usually see out of US breweries. Nice smokey aroma coming from a dark brown pour with a tan head. Taste is all smoke malt with no alcohol burn in the finish despite its ABV (almost 7%.) Smoke Signal may not appeal to everyone and the taste is not subtle, but it would go great with some bar-b-q or any red meat dish.

Sample at Cock & Bull Pub in Sarasota. Pours black with a thick and foamy off-white head that recedes gradually. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoked malt, wood and chocolate. Medium-bodied with flavors of charred malt, smoked wood and a bit of dark chocolate. The finish is smoky with a burnt malt aftertaste. Above average overall.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
750 ml bottle courtesy BMMillsy. Thanks. Pours a dark brown color with a big khaki colored head that has good retention. The aroma is medium in strength with smoke, chocolates and mocha. The taste was a nice balance of dark baking chocolate, smoke, ash, and bitter walnuts. A bit more bitter than I was expecting really. The palate is full and creamy with soft carbonation. Finishes long and dry with some lingering light smoke flavor. Overall: I would prefer a bit bigger smoke presence, this was a bit on the subtle side, but that minor quibble aside its an expertly crafted brewski and enjoyed it immensely. Thanks again Brian.

Tap at B&B junction winter park, fl. Roasted malt aroma with smoke and chocolate notes. Pours black with a thin off white head and no lacing. Smooth mouthfeel to start with notes of roasted malt and some chocolate. Finishes smooth and dry with a good amount of smokiness throughout. Nice porter.
