COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Light and refreshing, yet busting with flavor. We add Florida Tupelo honey to a traditional cream ale, and just a touch of hops, to update this American classic. This is what a light beer should bee! Tupelo honey is produced from the tupelo gum tree which grows profusely along the Chipola and Apalachicola rivers of northwest Florida. Here in the river swamps, bees are placed on elevated platforms along the river’s edge or on floating barges; the bees fan out through the surrounding Tupelo-blossom-laden swamps during April and May and return with their precious treasure. This river valley is the only place in the world where Tupelo Honey is produced commercially. Tupelo Honey is considered to be the finest quality honey in the world and is the only variety certified for varietal purity. It costs a bit more, but we think you will find that it produces a crisp light beer that rivals the finest lagers in the world. Ingredients: American barley malts and corn Florida Tupelo Honey New Zealand organic Hallertau hops Production Targets: Original Gravity: 14 Brix IBUs: 17.9 Alcohol By Volume: 5.9%

Draft… Clear, light yellow lager with a small, wispy, white head. The nose is of honey, grilled corn and warm, spent mash. Full-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and stinging carbonation. Flavor-wise, notations of pale grains and honey predominate. There’s some really decent bitterness here, but the folks in Gainesville stay true to style with grainy sweetness standing out. Finishes crisp, snappy, and then moderately sweet, but fairly coarse.

CCB - tap. Pour was clear yellow with small but fluffy white head. Aromas were of light grain, corn, and a touch of honey. Flavors were similar with hints of corn and grain. Some light sweetness that fades away into a cereal grain finish. Medium carbonation. Meh...

Not really a bad brew. Smells sweet, a little bit like Twinkies... The mouth feel is dry yet smooth, and with a subtle taste of honey in the background. Light and session-able, just not anything spectacular though.

If I new this beer came from Gainesville, Florida, worst college town in America, I would have avoided it like the plague. Pours super pale with a white head. Has a barely there lemony scent. Taste is light and grassy. Supercarbonated, most likely to hide its utter mediocrity. Draft - Owl Cafe Tap Room - Apalachicola, FL

Golden with a mild honey nose, bready malts, mild bitter finish. Dry. Not a good match with bleu cheese
