COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the recipe that won a Bronze Medal at the 2010 World Beer Cup. Great balance of flavor, with notes of coffee and chocolate and goes down smooth.

This pours a pitch black color with a foamy head. There’s an aroma of chocolate malt. The taste is strong with robust malts and caramel flavors. Texture is decent for a foreign stout but still a little too light for me. This is basically a bolder, stronger version of Guinness.

On tap at Vintage 3/12/12. Deep brown-black, opaque. Big beige head, steady and creamy. Big chocolate aroma. Big chocolate taste. Watery English body. Really nails the Caribbean Stout style, they’d be all over this down there. Roasty chocolate tones, but a delicate smooth backbone, a touch of lactose. Creamy, quite delicious. A pleasant surprise. Not so sessionable, but great for the style.

Black pour with a small off white head. Coffee forward stout with a bit of roast and chocolate, nothing too overwhelming. Lighter mouthfeel, semi dry, very good carbonation for the style.

On tap at the brewery, pours black with a thin tan head and spotty lacing, the aroma has a ton of chocolate and coffee, very nice, the front end has nice notes of chocolate and toffee with a finish of coffee, roasty flavors through out, nice thick mouthfeel, really good stuff.

On tap at Sweet Mullets brewpub. Dark brown with a thin tan head and ruby lowlights. Aroma of roasted dark malts, coffee and a hint of chocolate. Taste of heavily roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and a peppery finish. Ok.

On tap at Vintage Brewing in Madison. Poured dark brown with a nice cap of yellowy-beige head. The aroma was sweet with coffee and burnt black patent malts leading.. vanilla and a touch of smoke accented.. overall sweet and very approachable. The flavor found burnt coffee, a touch of smoked malt, and vanilla at the core.. coffee bitterness and some peppery alcohol around.. finished roasty and a little tart. Medium-bodied and well-carbonated on the palate.. OK feel and flow.. good stuff.

On tap at brewery. Deep black with mocha head. Aroma is refined roasted malt/coffee, light molasses, brown sugar, and cream. Flavor is initially fresh-steeped coffee and roasted malt and finishes with a brown sugar sweetness. Residual is malt sweetness and faint smoky roast.
