Roasted pumpkin and pumpkin pie spices added to a classic steinbier brewed with super-heated granite. A great holiday treat.

From sampler at the source. Orange-y pour. Definite pumpkin spices without going overboard. A bit lighter version of the style. Solid. 13.8

Tap at Sweet Mullets. Glowing filtered orange-amber body. Big, steady, off-white head. Massive pumpkin pie aroma. A really well done pumpkin beer, huge flavor but not too sticky or heavy. So heavily spiced and flavorful that it is hard to session, but overall it’s still better than your average Pumpkin beer. Right on.

This one was nice. Lots of meaty pumpkin going on in here that seemed to really pull the spicing together. Roasty, meaty, but still lightly sweet. One of the better takes on this style I’ve had.

Deep brown-amber pour with khaki head. Wonderful nose of caramel covered fruit, gentle allspice, and light, sweet pumpkin pie filling. Flavor is fruity and caramel malt, lightly sweet, with pumpkin meat and fading cinnamon. Base beer fit seamlessly with addition of the pumpkin. Just enough of the pumpkin and spice to make it interesting, without the spice assault that you get in other pumpkin beers. Way too sessionable. Brilliant.

On tap at Sweet Mullets. Hazy amber with a thin white head. Aroma is spicy and earthy with caramel, nuts, pumpkin and traditional pumpkin spices. Interesting mix that taste of pumpkin, caramel, nutmeg, cinnamon, earthy notes and a spicy finish.

On draught at the Sweet Mullets brewery taproom west of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. Pours a clear orange amber colored brew with a creamy off-white head that slowly dissipates and leaves behind some excellent lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, plenty of pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon and even a hint of tart pear. Flavor is more complex. Medium to full bodied, soft carbonation with flavors of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, some vanilla, a hint of coriander and sweet caramel. Finish is semi-sweet and a mild bitterness with some aftertastes of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Hope to see this again next autumn.
