COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
SweetWater’s Sweet 16 Tribute: a Red Wheat Wine Ale Of course, SweetWater couldn’t throw a birthday bash without an honorary brew to celebrate such an occasion. The brewers went out of the box with this super heady limited-run Dank Tank release. With a license to brew, they stepped on the gas and whipped out a racy Red Wheat Wine (say that five times fast). This beer rips down the road at 11% ABV, fueled by a 45% wheat bomb and an after-burner hop shot of Amarillo, Willamette, Nelson Sauvin, and US Goldings creating a brew that is sure to raise some hairs.

Generous Scandinavian sample pour from Sam’s Quik Shop. Deep coppery red with a beige head. Nose of caramel and toffee and hops trying to fight through. Some sweet grain notes. Taste is mostly sweet with sone citrusy hops behind it all. Thick and boozy.

Bottle from the brewstravelers, thanks! Poured deep red with some yeast chinkies. Nose is toasty malts, spicy malts, smooth caramels, light toffee, rich bready malts, some citrus, cherries, dark fruits, dank fruits. Flavor is similar. warming, citrus, toasty, very faint roast, some rich spicy character. Really nice.

Red/brown pour with a light tan head. Aromas of sweet malts, brown sugar, and dark fruit. Flavor is similar with some slight warming from the abv in the finish. There is some type of sharp bite in the finish as well that I can’t quite put my finger on but I’m not a huge fan of it. Decent brew but still has a ways to go to be exceptional.

Bottle at my grandparents. Pour is hazy amber-brown with frothy tan head and great lacing. Figs, prunes, caramel, somewhat bready, grassy, banana and tangy aroma. Taste is red fruits, caramel, licorice, bread, grass, grapey, brown sugar, and raisins with a medium bitter finish. Creamy mouthfeel with soft carbonation.

22oz bomber courtesy of markwise. It pours with a ruby red to amber body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up sweet malts, molasses, prunes and dates with brown sugar sprinkled in there for good measure. The taste is similar with malts and molasses mixed with nectar like plum juice and dates dusted with brown sugar. It gets a tad hot here and there but pretty much to style for 11%. Nice sweet sipper.

From the 22oz bottle. Pours a reddish brown with little head. Boozy musty hop aroma, smells big. Smooth malt, boozy, hoppy, sweet taste. Lots going on and crazy strong, be careful.

Lots of spice in the flavor, thick floral malt. Candy sugar, sweet, slightly medicinal. Aftertaste becomes incredibly salty and makes it a bit hard to enjoy.

Pours a murky dark amber color with a short, light tan, rich head. Barely a nose at all. Old ale and amber aromas. Soft, mildly creamy texture with some mild burn on the back of the tongue. Mild nutmeg and caramel flavors.

Bomber poured a clear reddish amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of caramel, wheat, fruitiness and yeast. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of wheat, caramel, light fruttiness and light yeast with a smooth lingering caramel finish.

Slight haze to a deep amber colored pour. Off-white head that lasts a bit. Plenty of lacing. Malty aroma. Not much else. Taste is malty and sweet. Some caramel and vanilla notes. Pretty good.

22 ounce bottle thanks to changeup45. Big amber red pour. Caramel. Big barleywine like sweetness. Hoppy. Pretty nice.
