Poured from a bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a hazy, still amber-straw color with noticeable sediment and an average-sized foamy off-white head with decent retention and good lacing and cling. Its aroma featured a blend of pine, citrus, and herbal hops with some lighter tones of wheat and yeast, along with a bit of caramel malt. The beer had a fairly bitter grainy-citrus flavor with a strong sour barley grain effect and a touch of sweetish caramel and yeast. It had above average carbonation with a thicker mouthfeel and a fairly dry body.

Bottle - Pretty hoppy flavor on this, not very complex. I must admit this is not a very special beer. It’s not bad, just middle of the road in my opinion.

Bottle - light rust look with a small head. Light sweet malty flavor. Didn’t seem hoppy at all. Medium body and a fairly dry finish. I didn’t really find it all that appealing.

Three words describe this beer: Nasty, nasty nasty! Tastes like one of those rotgut Magic Hat beers. Just awful! Never again!!!

Poured from draft at restaurant into Pilsner glass. Thin mouth feel and thin in glass, with thin head. Slight floral nose, finished by fresh hops. Tingly mouth feel. Not too much going on, crisp finish.

As I’m more partial to tropical hop flavors than piney/earthy hop flavors in IPAs, I didn’t enjoy this brew as much as Sweetwater’s standard IPA, which is one of my all time favorites. This was indeed a more conventional West coast style IPA, as advertised, very hoppy and bitter, I didn’t notice the malty balance as much. Maybe some fruity tropical accents, but mostly just bitter resin flavor. Aroma was strong, plain grassy and piney hoppiness, appearance was golden amber. Good but not distinctive.

I am fairly content with this IPA. Although it isn’t as strong of a hoppy flavor as other IPAs, I think this is a great smooth brew for a hot day.

Golden amber with a white head. Faint floral, pine aromas that are mild at best. Medium carbonation also makes it really easy to drink. Dry and abrupt finish. Nothing to get excited about, but cleanses the palette and is easy to put back.

It’s funny how the first few times I had this beer I wasn’t very impressed and I was reluctant to order it. Now, I get excited when I see this beer.

12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours amber/golden with a white head. Aroma of floral and lightly resinous hops, pale and caramel malts, and light dough. Flavors all sort of light. Average texture. A decent pale ale but not the best.
