COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sweetwater Blue is a unique lighter style ale enhanced with a hint of fresh blueberry. When you drink this beer take a good whiff first and you’ll smell the blueberry influence, but on the taste it’s extremely subtle and the finish is extra clean. Ain’t no fruit beer, but it is our breakfast beer, usually folks that are looking to quench their thirst or for those that are new to the “good beer” lifestyle; this is their choice. This brew and the ESB were the original two to go through the tanks at SweetWater in February 1997.

Medals: Bronze medal winner at the 1998 World Beer Cup, Fruit Beer category; Always the funky favorite at any outdoor beer festival

Malt: 2 Row, Wheat

Hops: Centenial

This fruit beer pours a medium orange color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is blueberries and cereal. A medium bodied fruit beer. Malts are fruity and a touch grainy. Blueberries flavors are evident and fairly sweet. Crisp and clean. Light and refreshing. Interesting beer. I like the balance between the fruit and the malt, but I don’t like the lack of carbonation. All in all a drinkable beer, especially on a warm summer evening. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet.

Bottle: A little bit too sweet for my liking. For whatever reason I like most blueberry beers, this one is a bit on the syrupy side. It isn’t too overwhelming or powerful, just kind of too sweet in a sugary syrup kind of way.

12 ounce bottle from pintocb. Pours a BMC-esque yellow with a good white head. The aroma is straight up blueberry. I kind of like it. There’s a nice punch of blueberry flavor as well. Other than that, you get a grainy flavor as well, along with some decent hop bitterness. Average body. Lots of bubbles.

not much of a fruit beer brand but i enjoy sweetwater so i gave it a try. turns out it wasn’t bad at all. the blueberry is strong on the nose and in intial taste but fades into a hoppy taste. as far as fruit beers go, a very well balanced beer

12oz bottle. hazy dust gold in color, with a small retentive head. the attraction here is the aroma of fresh blueberries. unfortunately, that’s all i could really pull out of the aroma, aside from sugar syrup. though not complex, it is refreshing. the taste is that of taking a newly picked blueberry, sprinkling some grain sugar on it, dipping it in mild hops, and popping it in your mouth. the finish is rather astringent berry and spice with a hint of silk and oddly enough, licorice (rather potent, actually).
