COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sweetwater Blue is a unique lighter style ale enhanced with a hint of fresh blueberry. When you drink this beer take a good whiff first and you’ll smell the blueberry influence, but on the taste it’s extremely subtle and the finish is extra clean. Ain’t no fruit beer, but it is our breakfast beer, usually folks that are looking to quench their thirst or for those that are new to the “good beer” lifestyle; this is their choice. This brew and the ESB were the original two to go through the tanks at SweetWater in February 1997.

Medals: Bronze medal winner at the 1998 World Beer Cup, Fruit Beer category; Always the funky favorite at any outdoor beer festival

Golden wheat body, firm creamy head. It’s hard to beat the lazy, cool smell of blueberry fields wafting from the glass. Crisp blueberry flavor over a well-balanced 2-row grain body. Slightly parching blueberry-sour finish. A really delightful, delicate, and balanced blueberry wheat.

On tap at He’s Not Here in Chapel Hill, out of a bucket. Now THIS is an interesting beer, and I respect Sweetwater for making it. The beer pours golden in color with a small white head sitting on top. The aroma is straight-up blueberry pie. Pretty nice actually, if you’re into that kind of thing. The bready malt works pretty well with the big blueberry smells. The flavor is also blueberry and sweet bready malt notes. The blueberry flavor is pretty good actually. Medium-bodied with above average carbonation and a fairly lively palate. This is not a beer geek’s beer, but it is a fine one that accomplishes what it is going for. I approve, as much as I wanted to hate this.

Pours like a standard golden pale ale. Tasted and smelled like a bad blueberry muffin.

12 oz. bottle from Mellow Mushroom in Snellville, GA. Aroma of blueberries and that’s about it. Very light and sweet taste of, once again, blueberries. Light hop flavor, but both seem very balanced and nothing too overpowering. Not my favorite drink by any means but I definitely can’t complain. Good stuff.

12 oz bottle from Noah. Golden colored pour with a foamy white head. Aroma is very simply - blueberries. Flavor is not too much besides that either... Nothing too special about this beer but I bet it would be a damn good choice on a hot summer day.

12oz bottle, done during a nice Sweetwater kick, this one had a light frothy head that disappeared quite quickly, aroma is light and fresh, a little sweet aroma, its not bad, its not great, it might be great out of cans on a hot summer day.

This is one of the more tolerable fruit beers in my opinion. It looks like an orange/yellow color. Almost no head at all. Does smell a little like blueberries. All I can say is that this beer is tolerable. I could easily drink more than one, if forced.
