Sweetwater Blue is a unique lighter style ale enhanced with a hint of fresh blueberry. When you drink this beer take a good whiff first and you’ll smell the blueberry influence, but on the taste it’s extremely subtle and the finish is extra clean. Ain’t no fruit beer, but it is our breakfast beer, usually folks that are looking to quench their thirst or for those that are new to the “good beer” lifestyle; this is their choice. This brew and the ESB were the original two to go through the tanks at SweetWater in February 1997.

Medals: Bronze medal winner at the 1998 World Beer Cup, Fruit Beer category; Always the funky favorite at any outdoor beer festival

I enjoyed this. Fruit beers are not my go-to style; however, the subtlety of this one was impressive. The aroma was of pale malt with a hint of blueberry. Golden pale ale/pilsner color. Light body with good carbonation. Crisp palate that made it easy to drink with food. Basic pale ale with a mild blueberry and other berry touch. Not sugary or overdone. Just enough to make it unique and enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours a golden color with white head. Sweet, blueberry yogurt aromas. Blueberry, cracker, slight soda water flavors. Pretty good for a blueberry beer.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer was mostly clear with a light amber-straw color and lots of rising bubbles to a large foamy white head with shorter retention, with very little cling and lacing. Its aroma was dominated by the blueberry scent, which was blend with some grain and yeast notes and a bit of caramel malt and wheat. It was somewhat sweet with a blueberry blend, but also a bit of wheaty and yeasty sourness to it. The beer had a somewhat dry body with lively carbonation and fizz, and a lighter, thinner mouthfeel.

Blue is golden in color with a decent fruit (blueberry) flavor and a wheat malt backbone that struggles to be average. All-in-all this is an OK beer, but nothing special and nothing I would buy again...one and done.

On tap at Taco Mac. Amber with an ivory head. Aroma is blueberry, wheat, plus a little earthy funk. Taste is sweet, but not overly so. Plenty of blueberry with a biscuity malt backbone. Body is light, but crisp. Easy drinking. Good for a hot day.

Very subtle blue berry beer. Nice and light. Flavor of fruit on the back end. Very light and lively.

Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a slightly clear golden colored body with a half finger white foamy head that quickly dissipates and leaves a slight lacing around the sides of the glass. The smell has strong notes of blueberry up front, slight wheaty/bready background. The taste is pretty much the same, a combined blueberrywheat aftertaste, sticky sweet finish. The palate is light, sessionable, carbonation is good for a blueberry beer and is good for me. Overall, this is a good session blueberry beer.

En ganska udda brygd med klar smak av blåbär. Ingen riktig höjdare, men den är intressant på ett dåligt sätt.

330 ml bottle in Pompano Beach Fl. Pours a lighter golden to yellow color, has a medium beige head that fades quickly Aroma: blueberry as soon as I cracked the bottle, the fake lifesaver type.Taste is wheat, blueberry, some of the earthy hops are hinting at the finish, some tart. Palate: moderate c02, light mouthfeel, leaves mouth kind of dry, a kind of tart aftertaste. This is ice cream parlor flavored brewery stuff. Not good.

Tap: Clear gold, with a small, off-white head. Blueberry muffin aroma. Very sweet, but not overly so.... Pretty good, authentic blueberry flavour... Restrained and pretty tasty.
