COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sweetwater Blue is a unique lighter style ale enhanced with a hint of fresh blueberry. When you drink this beer take a good whiff first and you’ll smell the blueberry influence, but on the taste it’s extremely subtle and the finish is extra clean. Ain’t no fruit beer, but it is our breakfast beer, usually folks that are looking to quench their thirst or for those that are new to the “good beer” lifestyle; this is their choice. This brew and the ESB were the original two to go through the tanks at SweetWater in February 1997.

Medals: Bronze medal winner at the 1998 World Beer Cup, Fruit Beer category; Always the funky favorite at any outdoor beer festival

A clear yellow beer with white head. Scent is blueberry of course. Taste is a malty berry. Not good.

Pours hazy yellow orange with small white head. Aroma is all citrus and blueberries. Thankfully no sweet berry taste, just a crisp , slightly carbonated summer ale. Very nice and refreshing for a mountain hike. Reminds me a great deal of Atlantic Harbor Blueberry Ale. Also has features of Lienenkugel’s Sunset Wheat, oddly enough. Unique and decent.

Ahhhh, Sweetwater Blue. This is a beer I drink maybe five times a year. It is very good for what it is, a refreshing fruit beer for hot days or when I am in the mood for it. Albeit its not often, its great when I call for it. It pours pilsner like with no head. Aroma is blueberry. Taste is light and summery with notes of blueberry. I haven’t tried anything else that it similiar to it, kinda in a class of its own.

Light bodied lawnmower beer. Blue starts with a semi sweet overtone of bluebeery and some light pils malt. Body is thin, and blueberry takes a front seat but does not overwhelm. Not sweet at all. More like a golden ale with essence of blueberry floating on top. Pours a pale effervescent gold with a quickly dissipating head. No lacing to speak of. A solid hot weather quencher.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear, yellow-gold colored body with a finger-width, frothy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is some sweeter wheats and blueberries. The blueberry isn’t artificial, which is nice. Flavor is more the same. Not as vibrant of a blueberry flavor as the aroma, but still fresh and not artificial. Some lightly sweetened wheats before this finishes somewhat dry and sweet with a light bitterness. Medium length aftertaste following a medium body and moderate carbonation. Overall, for a fruit flavored wheat beer, this was pretty good. Not artificial or over-the-top. Not bad.

Draft. Golden with small white head. You get the blueberry on the nose. Flavour is malt but unlike the aroma the blueberry are barely there.

Sample at Montgomery brewfest. Pours golden with thin head. Aroma of blueberries. Crisp, blueberry flavor. Thin mouthfeel. Not my style but wife liked it.
