Belgian, Strong, Pause . . . for a moment and letís consider the Possibilities. Sure, you were thinking Pale but itís not at all pale. Rather the contrary. The P could stand for Perfect: perfectly befitting a warm respite in front of a fire on a cold February night Ė but we donít say chit like that. Youíll probably just drink this Belgian Quad like a session beer and hope for the best in the morning anyway, so screw it. Maybe the P stands for your favorite Pub, the place where you go to hang out, drink killer beer and enjoy life. Yup, thatís the one. The Quad part, well itís a style for sure, but it could be in reference to a collaboration between a Pub and a Brewhouse that opened in the same year out of friendships and a love for great beer. Yeah, those four things are in here too.

22 oz. bottle. Thanks Rich! Pours a nice mahogany, with very fine, bubbly head. Dark fruits, caramel, black pepper, milk chocolate, and light cinnamon. Sweet and musty, slightly sour and bitter. The body is medium, with light carbonation, sticky, and spicy. A little alcohol warming in the finish. Overall, this is a surprisingly good American Quad.

On tap at the Sweetwater sweet 16 celebration. Pours a hazy copper brown on tap with thin ring of lace that spots lightly on the glass on the way down. Aroma of belgian yeast, dark fruits, and slight caramel and toffee malts. Taste follows, with a sweet, estery, alcohol finish. Pretty good.

Bomber from the TheBeerSommelier. Pours murky dark brown with very small tan ring left behind. Aromas of toffee, vanilla, dark fruit, and some thick dark malts. Flavors of thick dark malts, toffee, dark fruit, and some booze. Mouthfee is good, Lacking the complexity found in the more famous trappist quads, but this is still enjoyable.

2010 version from draft @ Brickstore Anniversary Party. Pours a deep dark amber with a medium sized beige head. Aroma is coming off quite sweet with bigger fruity esters, vanilla, figs and hints of booze. Taste is sweet with fully developed booming dark aged fruits, raisin and plum galore. A bit sweeter than I prefer, but was a fun one to try and certainly has aged pretty good. Since I missed it the first go round, glad I got to catch up to it a couple years later.

Originally reviewed: 5/9/10. Glad to see that this Dank Tank release made it up to these parts. Bomber poured into a snifter. Pours a dark mahogany with a thin tan head resting on top. This head is pretty faint and fleeting. Itís gone in about a minute. Leaves little-to-no lace behind. Big sweet candy-like scents coming out. Some strawberry and fig notes. Slightly resiny on the back end. Nice. The body is thick and smooth, but not filling as much as I thought. This actually is my first Quad, so Iím not sure how the flavors match up to the style. But I for one LOVED the flavor. Great molasses-sweet malts up front, some bready feel in the middle and a nice sweet punch on the end. Some dark fruits noted as well, but not bittering at all. This is sweet and enjoyable. I thought this was going to be a sipper, but it ended up being a ígulper.í Dangerously drinkable with this ABV. I want more. Iím going to grab a few more of these and set some away. I bet thisíll just get better and better with age. Recommend.

22 oz bottle. Murky brown with a brief head, some lacy spots. Nose is caramel, raisin and fruitcake. Slick, medium to full body with a tang. Taste is grape, raisin, vanilla, grape skins, alcohol and cardboard. Sometimes good, sometimes not so much.

Tasted on 10/23/11 from a 650mL bomber bottle sent to me as an extra in a trade. Pours an opaque dark brown with a tint of amber, and a thick beige head that slowly recedes to a thin collar of lace. The nose is caramel, toffee, maple, a hint of nuttiness, and a spicy Belgian yeast. The flavor is exactly the same with a touch of chocolate and a dusty note, but the lightly sweet caramel, toffee, and maple are definitely the focus, and just a hint of roast on the back of the palate. The body is medium with light carbonation, a lightly sticky texture, and a long caramel, toffee, maple, and lightly roasted finish. If I had tasted this blind, I would assume that it were a true Quad from Belgium.

Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is brown. Aroma and taste are rich fruits, candy sugar, caramel, spices, malt and hops. Nice and warming.
