COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Living large with his 7 year squeeze, Capt. Danky was suddenly blindsided as he discovered General Betrayus under the sheets with his ho. Unstable, delirious, and in desperate need of relief, he headed to the Cheetah to drown his sorrows with a few motorboats. After his wallet was drained by a lonely dental hygienist student, she whispered in his ear the 411 on a swinging late night dance club called Johnny’s Hideaway where he might get lucky. Wearing his big boy pants, he jumped in the first cab and beelined it to the hopeful honey hole. A stupefied Capt. Danky slipped in and was immediately pounced on by the house mama who set her meat hooks into him to do a little dirty dancing. Capt Danky was swept off his feet by this big ol’ beauty and lured back to her cougar den for some Danky Spanky. Capt Danky awoke with an ear to ear hicky and massive claw marks on his chest, back, and sack-a-jo-wia. He slowly rolled over and uncrusted his eyes, hoping to figure out what was saddled up next to him under the leopard skin sheets. As his vision cleared, he gagged, learning he had ‘seasoned” a big fat black double IPA. Horrified, he grabbed his ring off the nightstand and jumped out the window before it was awake and ready for roust two. Here’s to hoping his buddies never discover his bag-age. Get Some Strange!

Really nice malt profile on this one. Nice caramel and cocoa. Creamy texture. The problem, if it’s really a problem, is that the IPA part is too understated. This is more a slightly hoppy porter than a black IPA, but it is a good bee.

Bomber. Pours nearly black with a tan creamy head; good lacing. Aroma is decidedly malty (caramel) and pleasant hops to balance - floral and citrus. Taste is very sweet at first and transitions to a grapefruity hop bitterness. Very malt forward with plenty of roast, creamy chocolate and dark ripe fruit notes. It’s full bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. Alcohol is well hidden. A very good Black IPA.

Black colored pour. Big khaki head. Plenty of lacing. Huge malty aroma with some piney notes and citrus. Taste is a big malty flavor with some dark fruit and raisins. Some hops in there, but not overpowering. More of a malt forward beer. Pretty tasty.

22 oz. bottle thanks to Phatdog1… thanks buddy!! Pitch black with thin off white head. Aroma is a great blend of mix of the roast char malt, fresh pine and citrus hops. The flavor is balanced perfect with rich chocolate malt along with the pine and citrus/ grapefruit hops. This can’t be 10%, no way!! ABV masked extremely well. The bitterness is lightly lingering and mellowed out by the rich roasted notes. Really tasty.

22oz bottle, big thanks to DanielCoor for sharing this one! Very dark brown color, thin khaki / tan head. Good plenty ropes of lace. Bigger body. Nice light chewiness to it. Light, smooth carbonation. Sort of dry finish. Awesome, awesome aroma. Herbal hops, some dark chocolate, moderate roast, big spicy hop. Dank and resiny. Grapefruit, citrus. Hint of tobacco. Really interesting spicy, herbal flavor to it. Bigger bitter taste, nice light sweet taste. So easy to drink for 10%, no hint of alcohol. Light spicy hop finish. Silly easy to drink. Long hoppy roasty lightly spicy chocolately aftertaste to savor. Fucking great beer! Would drink this all day, all the time. Wonderful, so good. Could have destroyed this bomber on my own in 4 minutes.

Bomber from Brusin Ales in Asheville. Pours a very deep cola with a minimal brown head. Smells amazing rich malty dankness. The Taste is rich chocolate with a strong hoppy presence. I can't believe that this is 10%, it wears the ABV well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black with a thick tan head. Aroma slight roasted coffee notes with a hit of pine hops. Flavor is big piney, resin hops with a roasted malt backbone. Finish is vaguely sticky sweet, but not overwhelmingly so. Wife: 3.2

Bottle courtesy of my friend Noel. This is actually Some Strange II. Didn’t see a listing so I’m putting it here. Black pour with a short tan head. Strong roasted malt and robust hops in the aroma. Taste is roasted malt, dark chocolate, hops, citrus, soft pine and burnt caramel. Body is medium-full with a strong, dense carbonation. Slught warmth and stickiness to this. Ends with more roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, citrus, pine and floral hops. Delicious!

Tasted on 8/2/13 from a capped 650mL bomber bottle purchased at Green Hills Wine Shoppe. Pours nearly black, cola brown, with an average tan head that slowly recedes to fairly thick, rocky lace. The nose is full of green resin and pine hops, with a nice combination of dark and milk chocolate, with a bit of a creamy note, and plenty of roast. The flavor is more focused on the chocolate and roasted notes, with the resinous hops taking a back seat. The body is full and creamy with average carbonation and a long, roasted and nicely bitter finish.

Phish Lot Beer #5. My have held this beer in the fridge just a touch too long. Pours black with a decent tan head. Excellent roasty nose. Flavors of coffee and slight touch of fruit mingle together. Thick-ish and well carbonated body. Bottle - Green’s Package Store - Atlanta, GA

Poured into a pint glass out of a 22oz bomber. Pours pitch black with a very solid two finger tan head. Amazing head retention that leaves behind very stout lacing. Very impressive. Aroma of pine and some citrus along with grass, orange peel, and smoke. Coffee and roasted malt are underneath but marry perfectly with the pine and citrus hops. There is also a dark fruit, port-like quality. The flavor brings out more of the stout characters with coffee and roasted malt but the hops are still very much forward. Pine is quite prominent but is solidly supported with orange and pineapple. Some chocolate rushes in late along with a moderate to high bitterness. One complaint I do have is that the malt flavor is a little soft and falls off too quickly. Still, the alcohol is well hidden and the beer is not too sweet. Overall, a very nice Black IPA and quite drinkable for being so strong. Another hit in the dank tank series from Sweetwater.
