COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Gimp A love story! A wide open Old Ale, The Gimp gags up Alc.10.3% by Vol. and is bred to be stashed in a Dank dark cellar only to be brought out for your most “special” guests! This full-bodied Gimp gives off sweet scents of caramel and toffee and, as legend has it, warm sensations of malt balanced by low voltage doses of hops delivering a SHOCKER you’ll actually want to receive. Don’t keep The Gimp’s leash too tight, as he will mellow with age and become more experienced the longer he stays locked up in the cellar. Bring out The Gimp!

Aroma slightly fruity and herbal. Obviously malt heavy but not obviously an old ale. Enjoyable, but like a lot of Sweetwater beers, not great. Shows the abv but was pleasant enough. My namesake beer after running my first 5k after 2 hip surgeries.

Year old bottle pour of deep brown with a small dissipating head. Aroma of huge sweet toffee and toasted barley. Aroma of big sweet caramel malt that packs a rich punch. Very smooth and oily on the tongue with a sweet tangy finish. Overall a very potent rich old style ale and catches up with you. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from AlexFields, it looks like nasty brown sewage, smells like malt and weird earth dirt. surprisingly it tastes like a barley wine without any hops which I guess is okay if you’re into that sort of thing.

Bottle thanks to AlexFields, thanks! Pours a somewhat light brown with a weak head that leaves zero lacing. Nose is of caramel and booze, slight hops. Reminescent of a barleywine more than an old ale. Taste is sweet but not cloying, with toffee and caramel flavors and a bitter finish. Alcohol is well hidden but still warms you plenty. Body is medium-full, mouthfeel sticky. Not bad but I’ve seen better.

Tasted on 1/19/14 from a capped 650mL bomber bottle purchased at Midtown. Pours a very dark auburn that lets just a bit of light through with an average beige head that slowly recedes to average lace. The nose is bread, toffee, and caramel malt with a roasted note and just a bit of hops bitterness. The flavor is a bit more bitter and dry than the nose suggested, but it is still all about the caramel, toffee, and bread malt with the bitterness coming through with a bit of hops and some roast. The body is full with average carbonation and a long roasted bitter and malty finish.

Pours a clear dark amber color with a creamy, one-finger, beige head. Nice, rich lacing around the insides of the glass. Christmas pull candy nose. Soft, creamy, microscrubby mouthfeel. Christmas pull candy and hard butterscotch candy flavors.

Bomber compliments of TJ. Poured into 4 equal samplers. Red liquid with a small off white head. Aroma of molasses, hops, earth & toffee. Wild flavor, a mix of sweet up front with bitter finish. Notes of toffee & booze. This is one crazy a$$ brew!

22oz bottle bought about a year ago. Pours a dark brown/amber with about 2 fingers of tan head that lasts for a good while. Aroma is caramel malts and some old hops. Taste is very much the same: tons of caramel sweetness and a very mild bitter finish. Becomes much more enjoyable as it warms to about 50 degrees. Thick mouthfeel. Overall, this is a decent old ale for a very reasonable price. Haven’t seen it in stores for over eight months, however.
