3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pour is a rich bright gold color with a light head. Completely transparent. Looks good. Smells rich and hoppy like an imperial IPA. Tastes like an IPA^2 as well. Not sure why this is designated as a Belgian Strong Ale. Doesn’t match that profile at all. However... this is pretty damn good. Rich and delicious. Hoppy but balanced well with some nice malty sweetness. A bit of spice may show the Belgian character. Good beer. Price is crazy expensive though.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz. bottle. Dark gold color, with a medium, beige head, and good lacing. The aroma is caramel, light toast, apples, allspice, and citrusy hops. The flavor is big malts, with light bitterness through the finish. Heavy body, with a sticky, chewy, and slightly warming. Overall, this is a surprisingly heavy, barleywine-esque beer. Very nice!

Sampled at a recent tasting. The beer was decent but it was thrown among a lot of sours so it sort of fell by the waste side, literally.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
9/15/13. 22oz bottle from Grassroots. Another pointless, giant story from Sweetwater without really telling us what the beer is. Oh well, I didn’t really care anyway. Chances are it will be mediocre. Here we go. Dark orange pour, almost amber, with a small khaki head that laces decently. Big floral aroma, minerally, reminds me of an English pale ale, but with some fruity Belgian yeast aspects. Sweet flavor, malty, caramel, a bitter hop character develops, more mineral aspects, floral, fruity. Meh.

Solid. For 9% and not crazy hopped its well balanced and shows very little booziness. Sharp tasting. Nice beer

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber. Pours a copper color with almost no head. Light herbal hop aroma. Big burly chewy grain flavor with a bit of caramel and some candi sugar. Sticky sweet on the finish. I may be drinking this one a little too late in the game here since I am not getting the same sort of hop bomb notes I see in other rates. Either way there is a fruityness to this that is unique with some red fruits poking through the albeit faint citrus notes. The finish is chewy bursts of citrus peel again.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Whole Foods, Coral Springs, pours a deep copper amber color with no appreciable head. Nose is strong pleasant sweet grapefruit .Taste is bitter sweet with full tasty citrus flavors. Finish is bitter sweet and moderately long. A nice micro from a brewery that I have not really held in any high regard. Quaff Score 8 / 10

I can’t figure out if this beer is a joke or some sort of pornography. If someone carpet bombed Belgium with Daisy Cutters filled with hops, this beer would be the scenery on some Belgian brewer’s descent into hell. Flanders took it pretty hard in WWI and doesn’t deserve this sort of abuse. On the other hand, DIPA is pretty much all about the hops. The rest of the beer is just window dressing so why not Flemish treatments. In any case, these hops sing as they demolish the palate. Many beers claim to be hop bombs but end up being tame and balanced. This beer has no such inclination towards civility.
