thirdeye11 (403), Texas, USA Aug 30, 2009 ( 22oz bomber thanks to mar) Pours a clear yellow-orange with very low head. Some oily bubbles. Nose of citrus, grapefruit, caramel and quite bready. The taste is pretty bitter with a linger of grapefruit oils. Wish it was sweeter. Collint (450), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Aug 29, 2009 Bomber from PJ’s. Thanks Tiki Phil. Pours a light hazy copper orange with a thin head. Aroma is hoppy with notes of grapefruit or some type of sweet fruit and caramel. Flavor is complex hoppiness with a smooth body dry bitter finish. very nice and smooth crashcarr (5), Georgia, USA does not count Aug 24, 2009 An odd mix of flavors that sometimes pleases and sometimes causes cringing. They really did throw everything in and despite the high ABV it is covered up well by the assortmant of flavors. mar (1740), Rowlett, Texas, USA Aug 23, 2009 dank tank bottle thanks to daknole. amber with a thin white head. nose is grapefruit, hops and caramel. not bad on the palate with a bitter hop flavor that finishes with a heavy caramel flavor. kpresley77 (133), Jackson, Georgia, USA Aug 22, 2009 Bottle pours hazy orange copper with thin white head. Aroma is citrus and resin. First taste is bitterness of citrus and resin hops. Some nice sweet toffee backing and finish is resin hops. Not what I expected from a barleywine. The alcohol is well hidden. dkachur (2313), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Aug 22, 2009 22 ounce bottle courtesy of CrellMoset. Thanks! Dank Tank BP Barleywine Label. Pours a clear orange amber color with a thin head. Good head retention and lacing. Big citrus, resiny and herbal notes with lots of toffeeish caramel as well as peaches, pineapple and citrus. Taste is big citrusy and resiny hops with toffee and caramel notes. Something lightly cheesy in the finish. Full bodied. Very much like a good double IPA. Very enjoyable. BillKismet (1894), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 11, 2009 Light amber body with a thick, lush tan head. Intensely aromatic floral hoppiness with buzzing herbal hints. The flavor is exquisitely full of herbal hoppiness with piny overtones. This broaches the philisophical question of whether or not all DIPAs are just barleywines in the making that need to be aged a couple years. At the moment, this beer is an outstanding DIPA and in no way resembling a barleywine. I would love to try this aged after a couple years to enjoy its progression from one end of the style spectrum to the next. Savvy1982 (303), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Aug 11, 2009 Bottle. Labelled as Dank Tank, many thanks to Cheersmate! Pours deep amber, thick off-white head; big hops, sweet, definitely a IIPA nose, surprisingly heavy-handed with the pine/spruce aromatics. Palate is much more delicate, orange syrup, still supremely hoppy, but more in a perfumey way. Flowers, sweet malt, lingering finish.
