COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The biggest farm animal to come out of the SweetWater Barn! We bucked up and threw everything, including the kitchen sink, into this "Jackass" concoction. At 10% ABV and over 90 IBU - Youíll know it when it hits you in the back of the head!

Tap at Taco Mac. I liked the older version better. This one looked nice, amber pour...nice head. Aroma leans to the hoppy side while there is a fair amount of caramel and syrup in the nose. I prefer my BWís a bit smoother and a little less hoppy. This one is still ncie though. Hops offer up a nice bite here and the caramel malt keeps it a bit balanced...but not enough for me.

UPDATED: NOV 29, 2007 Bottle... O-Town Throwdown Part Tres ... Hazy amber ale with a small, creamy, white head. Sweet, cotton candy and tropical fruit nose. The flavor is sweet, but also moderately bitter and a touch acidic with essences of pineapple and grapefruit rind. Medium to full-bodied with fizzy carbonation. Finishes fruity, sweet and fairly bitter. Thanks for sharing, kp!

1 liter bottle acquired in trade with jimbowood (thanks!). Poured a deep and cloudy amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of citrus, pine, caramel, and dark fruits. Hoppy. Tastes of caramel, dark fruits, pine, and citrus. Light alcohol in the finish.

I am glad I cellared this 1 litre gift from Captain Couger. I think it mellowed, with a bit more balanced flavour from the hops - not in your face from 90 IBU. Initilly a bit sour, then the hops kicks in, a lot of citrus, lots of malt and barley. Very drinkable though not the most complex or impressive barleywine I have had.Big white head on cloudy golden yellow body.

Thanks to yobdoog for sharing. Deep amber coloured brew. Very bright hoppy/minty flavour over rich pale malts. Loads of fresh spicy hops. Light fruitiness in the back. Finishes with some grapefruity flavour that isnít really there in the aroma. Pretty by the numbers, but I quite like it nonetheless.

22 ounce bottle courtesy of CrellMoset. Thanks! Dank Tank BP Barleywine Label. Pours a clear orange amber color with a thin head. Good head retention and lacing. Big citrus, resiny and herbal notes with lots of toffeeish caramel as well as peaches, pineapple and citrus. Taste is big citrusy and resiny hops with toffee and caramel notes. Something lightly cheesy in the finish. Full bodied. Very much like a good double IPA. Very enjoyable.

1L bottle thanks to CaptainCougar. Sharp, well-hoped sweet honey, cedar, crystal malt-heavy nose, with notes of sherry and spicy oak. First impression on the tongue is thatís itís a little thin, I guess for what I was expecting... meaning something with the heavyness of Bigfoot. Almost seems like it was lightened with some candy sugar (without the huge sweetness), as it falls apart on the back rapidly, leaving a dull, thin, lightly spicy hop and cedar residue. The flavor never seems to fully develop. Nothing really terrible with this one, but the body and the lack of flavor depth are the main reason that this one suffers.

Small yellow rim over faintly hazy foxy-orange beer. Hoppy, grapes, sultanas, cakebottom, very American. Sweet-hoppy (yes...) with relatively little bitterness, lots of fruity esters as citrus and banana, without getting a Weizencharacter. Very well-bodied, slick to the point of oily-viscous. Excellent, if a tad to the sweet side IMO.

1L bottle from TheBeerCellar. Thanks! Pours chill hazy medium coppery with 1-finger off-white head that stays arounbd a while, reappears at every repour, and forms nice lacing for a beer this strong. The aroma is huge hops, some hot wafts, and some tropical fruity notes, plus caramel malt. No noticeable heat until the very end, with flavors of heavy hops, tangerine, mango peppery, and malt notes. Indeed, this one is much more of an IIPA than barleywine, but it is great however you choose to pigeonhole it.

Bottle. Very nice peach, apple and strong malt aroma - only a hint of alcohol. Cloudy reddish amber color with nice big head. Slightly sweet peach/apple and malt flavor up front with a citrusy hops finish. Alcohol well hidden. Excellent.
