COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The biggest farm animal to come out of the SweetWater Barn! We bucked up and threw everything, including the kitchen sink, into this "Jackass" concoction. At 10% ABV and over 90 IBU - You’ll know it when it hits you in the back of the head!

Orange with small head. Aroma of Hops, Citrus, and Malts. Taste - Citrus, sweet, malty, and nice hops bite. Overall - It is a good beer, only my 2nd "barely wine" so can’t really speak for the category. But I will definitely try this one again as I could see myself having a few of these.

I thought it was a good beer but it was very bitter and sweet. It does have a very high alcohol content.

Pours an amber color of iced-tea with a touch of haze. Impressive head of tan meringue foam, sticky and gooey lacing. Sweet, juicy hop aroma of citrus. Orange pulp, nectar, with a resiny backbone that adds a nice touch of dryness. Biscuity grain with a bit of roasted cereal. Pretty smooth flavor for this big a beer. Caramel malt, orange blossom backed with bitter orange rind and pine. A bit of herbal tea and florals on the finish. Definitely American in character as it tastes like a borderline DIPA. Smooth, surprisingly light mouthfeel, slightly oily with a nice dry finish. Overall a nice barleywine in the American style, although the malt presence was a bit muted. Alcohol presence is extremely well hidden.

An odd mix of flavors that sometimes pleases and sometimes causes cringing. They really did throw everything in and despite the high ABV it is covered up well by the assortmant of flavors.

This beer has remained on my top 5 list for years now. My only hope is they find it within themselves over at Sweetwater to build this beauty one more time. The DP Barleywine was a perfect specimen in this style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
