This is a classic American Porter, poured on tap it has a good head that stays and leaves a nice lace. It is defined by its chocolate malt, medium body, and smooth mouthfeel. Balanced by the Golding and Columbus hops on the finish is a hint of bitterness. Don’t be afraid of the dark.

A coffee brown color with a small tan creamy head. Fresh roasted malt aroma. A nice session beer. Roasted malt taste, thin body, typical American porter.

Thanks to aracauna for the trade. Nice dark brown (almost black) pour with a thick dark beige head. Nice lacing throughout the glass. Aroma is lightly smoky under malt and coffee. Somewhat rich with a nice blend of coffee, chocolate, and malt. The finish is a little sharp, maybe even hoppy. This is a solid beer, and my only problem with it would be a lack of refinement.

I didn't know what to expect from a beer with a huge fish on the label, seeing as I live by the Tennessee River in the same region as the brewery, and it is advised not to touch the fish for health reasons. Anyway, I love the pitch black color and the flavor was Okay, but it could be improved by removing some of the sourness.

UPDATED: NOV 23, 2003 Appearance is black as death with an excellent lacing and head. Aroma is chocolate and smoke. Flavor is slighty hoppy with some chocolate and toffee notes. Has a distinct taste common to all of the Sweetwater beers Ive had. Not a bad taste but certainly distinct. Quite similar to a smoked porter almost. A good porter but a little less complex and slightly more tangy than most. But still a good beer to have to ring in my birthday!

Slight smokey nose, smooth caramel taste, quick finish. Very mild in taste and aroma. I expected more.

Sweet burnt chocolate, followed by a bitter hop finish. Palate is too thin and filled with too many tiny bubbles. This is good but not the best.

Pours with an immense amount of foam. Soft roasted malt and some hops in the aroma. Malty body has some syrupy properties and a lot of hops. Roasted finish shows up about five seconds after. Decent porter, but unbalanced and sort of bland.

I still like 420 the best, but the Exodus Porter is a great beer when your in the mood for something malty.

This is a nice porter. Nice rich maltiness. Coffee aroma. A hint of sweetness, but not overpoweringly sweet. Very smooth for a porter.
