3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 KajII (705) - Macon, North Carolina, USA - DEC 10, 2011Bottle. The pour was a dark muddy brown with a very large (heavy side of 3 fingers) light brown foamy head that lasted a good long time, leaving being a ton of residue that layeyered the top of the beer thus producing some excellent lacing that totally coated the glass.
The aroma was of a roasted bread malt and a leathery doughy yeast with strong notes of roasted coffee, molasses and a bit of toffee.
The taste was nice and malty and a little sweet with just a hint of molasses in the beginning then proceeded to become a tad bitterer and was fully enhanced by a nice strong coffee note at the end. The flavor lingered on well after the swallow with the strong taste of malty coffee relaxing nicely on the taste buds.
Mouthfeel was just a shade under full in body and very creamy in texture with the carbonation being nice and soft.
Overall an exceptional Porter with everything working so well together that it produces a beer that has awesome flavor and a great drinkability.

Actually a pretty limp looking porter, very little head, minimal lacing - mahogany pour. A hefty dose of chocolate, molasses, toasted malts and coffee. Some earthiness and tobacco - aromas last a while. medium bodied w/ low carb a rounded mouthfeel. The sweetness of roasted malts comes through with plenty of chocolate. This is well-balanced with coffee bitterness and spice hop on the finish. I seek out a few of these each winter.

Mmmm. This beer is a chocolate malty goodness! It pours black and has a robust chocolate/roasty aroma. The label is dead on as it has a medium body with a very light and creamy mouthfeel. There is a nice hop bitterness in the finish which really makes this beer! A flavor explosion that goes down quite easily! Very well done!

Bottle. Roasty vegetal malt aroma, maybe a little nutty. Chestnut with a moderate tan head. Sweet roasty malt - not really chocolate, coffee or caramel - it’s malty, but nondescript. Light roasty bitter finish. Medium body and carbonation.
