3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 chickenflea (280) - Oviedo, Florida, USA - JAN 22, 2013Bottle. Pours dark with ruby cast. Short, dense tan head. Aroma is slightly hoppy with strong roasted malt notes, coffee and chocolate. Taste is semi-sweet chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and burnt caramel. Body is light-medium and creamy with a soft, bubbly carbonation. Finishes with creamed coffee, and battery-on-the-tongue tanginess. Some surprising umami there too. Tasty porter. Am wondering about that finish though. Not sure if I like it, but it is interesting.

Actually a pretty limp looking porter, very little head, minimal lacing - mahogany pour. A hefty dose of chocolate, molasses, toasted malts and coffee. Some earthiness and tobacco - aromas last a while. medium bodied w/ low carb a rounded mouthfeel. The sweetness of roasted malts comes through with plenty of chocolate. This is well-balanced with coffee bitterness and spice hop on the finish. I seek out a few of these each winter.

Mmmm. This beer is a chocolate malty goodness! It pours black and has a robust chocolate/roasty aroma. The label is dead on as it has a medium body with a very light and creamy mouthfeel. There is a nice hop bitterness in the finish which really makes this beer! A flavor explosion that goes down quite easily! Very well done!

Bottle. Roasty vegetal malt aroma, maybe a little nutty. Chestnut with a moderate tan head. Sweet roasty malt - not really chocolate, coffee or caramel - it’s malty, but nondescript. Light roasty bitter finish. Medium body and carbonation.
