3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark brown, almost coke-like with an absent head. Aromas of chocolate, molasses, and some spices. Flavor has a good bit of spice in it as well as some chocolate notes and cinnamon sugar toast. Mild earthy hops also come through as well and leads to a bit of a watery finish . Overall it is a rather interesting and odd brew, and one that should be experienced during the winter months.

12 oz. Bottle from Sohel in Atlanta. Nutmeg spice scent to roast coffee porter-like scent. Black pour with a white ring of a head. Medium body, almost heavy, with a silky, oily feel. Potpourri flavor, spice, floral cinnamon, to a roasty coffee finish.

Draught. I have had this the past two years it was offered (2011 & 2012) and found it to be a warm, well spiced, and well balanced brew.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2013 Tap at Mellow Mushroom Destin. Dark brown with a beige head with spotty lacing. Aroma of heavy roast, dark chocolate, and cocoa with mild spice. Moderate bitterness and solid roasted taste. Medium bodied and pretty smooth. Good stuff.

Waxed bomber from mixmasterob. Thanks man! Pours dark brown with a creamy/bubbly beige/tan head. Very spicy aroma. I get the cinnamon. Something else - but I am clueless about mace. Med + body. Flavor is dry, sort of dusty, with cinnamon and I guess mace. Itís a little bit chocolate, mildly roasted malt, and thereís more, but difficult to piece out. The flavor is strong, and there are several aspects. Tho malty it seems to be more dry than not. Not getting a lot of bitter, but guess the spice fills that role. Good winter ale.

Draft at pie in the sky Madison. Pours dark brown with an inch of khaki foam but doesnít leave any lacing. Not much on the nose except a bit of alcohol. A bit of cinnamon on the tongue. Eh! Eh!

Bottle--nice, deep black color with a small, tan head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate, once the beer warms up. Some coffee taste, but mostly of chocolate and that holiday cinimmon flavor. A little too bitter with alcohol on the back end. Cheers! Bruisin Ales.

Pours opaque black with one finger head with moderate to heavy lacing. Roasted malt , coffee, chocolate milk. Starts sweet throughout first half then mild to moderate bitterness through the medium finish. Tiny bit boozy but well balanced. Mild carbonation. Medium to heavy body. Hint of cinnamon. What does mace taste like? This is a good winter beer.

Pours a dark, dark brown. Aroma of Chocolate, coffee, and espresso. Tastes of sweet caramels, dark chocolate, coffee and a very slight cinnamon note that cuts through all of the dark sweet flavors. Good beer, possibly my favorite from SweetWater.......
