Pours dark mahogany into the glass, with a fully diminished creamy head that leaves trace, spotty lacing. The nose is of caramel and vegetal notes. Flavors are caramel, spices, light chocolate, dark pitted fruits and finishes with a hint of spices and ABV warmth. The mouthfeel is a bit flat with a medium body. Decent winter brew.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle at home. Festive Ale pours a dark carmel color. a nice dark brown color with a thin, creamy, cream-colored head. The aroma is of carmel, hints of coffee and sweetness. Nice overall smell. . Taste is of carmel, with a hint of bitterness and syrup of some sort. Mouthfeel is watery. Smooth beer that is easily drinkable. I really enjoyed drinking this beer and could see myself purchasing again.

Draft at Trappeze Pub with Linh, Scarlett and Dad. Pours a light amber body with short head and thin off white lacing. Aroma is light malt, some spice, and faint toast. Mouthfeel is medium to light with decent carbonation on the tongue and notes of sweet malt, light candy character and lots of bland spice. Not a bad beer, but just boring.

12 oz bottle -- Aroma is a very nice roasty malty scent. Pretty dark dark ruby color. Flavor is very nice with layers of flavors that take a while to separate from each other. Great winter drinker.

Sweetwater Festive Ale has a thin, creamy, cream-colored head, a very dark brown appearance with ruby highlights and visible, tight bubble streams, and a good amount of splotchy lacing left around the glass. The aroma is of spiced bread, bread crust, and sweetness. Taste is of those elements, with subdued bitterness and syrup of some sort. Mouthfeel is somewhat watery, and Sweetwater Festive Ale finishes refreshing, sweet, easily drinkable, mostly dry, and not the least bit alcohilic. Overall, this is one of the better spice ales Iíve tried. RJT

UPDATED: MAR 26, 2014 Appearance: very dark brown color, practically black, can barely see thru it when I hold it up to the light, pours with a big tan head that settles into a density after a long wait Aroma: subtle cinnamon, dark roasted grain, syrup, coffee, Taste: dark roasted malt, coffee, kind of sweet, some bitterness is layered in there too, cinnamon is there, grain, smoky Palate: average carbonation, slightly bitter aftertaste mixed in with coffee, heavy mouthfeel, leaves mouth dry Overall: complex beer with many kind of subtle flavors, reminds me of a porter, can taste the cinnamon too, smoke is prominent

12oz bottle, from Party Source. Best if enjoyed by 10-24-14. Pretty long shelf-life, there. Nearly pitch black color. Slightly red clear bits. Big thick khaki head, with great retention. Leaves great, thick lace. Bigger body. Smooth, kind of crisp lighter carbonation. Lightly slick texture. Easy-drinking, especially for the ABV. Nice nuttyness to the malt, a good chocolate, and lighter, balanced spice notes, some brown sugar. Very tasty, balanced spice, with a malt profile thatís actually interesting and provides some body to hold the spice. Moderate sweet, light to moderate bitter. Alcohol pretty well hidden. Relatively low spice, for a winter warmer, and more of a darker overall flavor profile. Great stuff. Much better than expected. Deserves itís recent mention in Paste Magazine

On tap pint glass. Atlanta airport. Appearance: amber/ruby in color. Opaque. Zero head. Aroma: malty, brown sugar, slight spice notes. Not very strong. Taste: mostly sweet malt in flavor. Not much else. Palate: full/medium body. Thick texture mouthfeel. Low carbonation. Overall: a decent ale, but not very strong in flavor.
