3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 punkeedo (491) - Covington, Louisiana, USA - SEP 25, 2004I thought this was a nice beer, especially since it was the first I had on my birthday. It’s a good one to have--not too bad, but not overly special. You still have beers to look forward to when you’ve had this one. Let it warm a bit, before drinking it, else you’ll miss the subtleties of this ale. When cold, it seems watery and somewhat boring. Closer to room temp, though, it’s pretty darn good--nutty with caramel and a fuller feel on the tongue. However, it still is not as thick as it could be. But, really, though, it’s not a bad beer. Worth a try. Oh yeah, and it’s not as sweet as you might would hope or expect.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 deaconmike (113) - Roswell, Georgia, USA - MAY 24, 2013
On tap at Taco Mac. Clear dark copper. Large tan head. Aroma is subdued - only picking up a little malt, caramel. Taste is only slightly sweet - caramel and just a hint of bitter chocolate. Somewhat dry finish with subtle hops. Mouthfeel is moderate to light. Overall, fairly easy drinking beer, but nothing extraordinary.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 freekyp (1418) - Thomasville, North Carolina, USA - MAY 18, 2013
One of the better renditions of an American brown ale, Sweetwater balances a mild earthy nuttiness with enough hops and malt sweetness to keep things in balance, and interesting. Pours a pretty reddish copper with a nose of caramel malt and hazelnut. Equally at home with a charred burger or a cinnamon sugar muffin, this brew is sessionable, flavorful, and versatile.
