It's nice to be able to finally brew some beer without restrictions on it. we came from Colorado where we could brew or try anything. We've been waiting 7 years to make a stout and we harnessed all that frustration into this batch of beer.

We didn't get caught up in the parameters of a specific style we just brewed a big fat hoppy beautiful beer. The timing of the law change couldn't have been better for us, because it has taken until this summer for us to get set up in our new brewery. We finally have some capacity to experiment with some new style. This could lead into a seasonal offering from us in the future. For now we're just glad we can satisfy the demands of the folks who have been on us since day 1 to make a stout.

Malt: 70/80 crystal malt, chocolate malt, black malt, roasted malt

Hops: Centennial, Willamette and cascade - on the dry hop!

Iíve been wanting to try this and finally got the chance. Surprisingly hoppy for a stout which I actually really enjoy. Super drinkable at 9% but not a full bodied stout. If you take this for what it is worth being an easy drinking thin stout with a nice hoppy compliment it is worth a try.

Great roasty flavor and aroma! Rich maltiness and medium hoppiness that balances well! A well brewed beer that is well worth enjoying!

12 oz bottle served in a snifter. Best by date of Feb. 2012. A: pours black and thick, with about 1 cm of light brown head. Good head retention with plenty of lacing. S: aromas of roasted malt, for sure, but this also has a substantial hop character of the weedy/herbal sort. Higher ABV is evident even while cold and contributes to floral notes and hints of dark fruits. Fair amount of dark chocolate. T: semi-sweet mocha and malt flavors appear initially. The hop component remains partly herbal in tasting but is less pronounced on the tongue than in the nose, and turns more piney here. The hop contribution grows in power, and comes to the fore in the aftertaste, which is also nicely, if lightly, fruity and bitter. These hop characteristics seem well-matched to the malt profile, producing a stout that is relatively hoppy but still seems well-balanced. Hints of dark toast and molasses. The fine and lingering aftertaste has good bit of mocha tint. M: creamy smooth and full bodied with a soft medium-light carbonation. The high ABV has little negative impact on the feel. O; rather hoppy yet drinkable imperial stout, with a high ABV that is well-hidden in the taste and feel, although fairly obvious to the nose.

Bottle from Dane, thanks! Pours a deep brown with a nice cream coloured head. Aroma is roasty malt, some slightly piney hops. Taste is some bitter chocolate, roast malt, caramel, vanilla, slight hop bitterness. Very easy drinking at 9%, quite thin.

"big hoppy aroma. nice, but overpowers the "stout" part. black beer. prickly feel, but full and rich too. flavor and aroma make the beer seem a little old, but it says best by december 2010, and here it is in may? a little more chocolate and roasted malt come through, and the alcohol is hidden in the flavor (although it warms). the bitterness of the beer prevented me from enjoying it as much as i thought i would. i was hoping for a yeti or storm king wannabe and itís pretty good, but nowhere near those 2. 5/11 slightly fresher taste and aroma bump the score by a tenth."

Tasting notes from Johnís visit in late March, had this at Duckworthís in Ballentyne. 8 oz black pour, little to no head. Very bitter with choclate and dark fruit flavor. Bitter finish. Perfectly good imperial stout but not particularly memorable.

From a bomber. Pours very dark brown with a bubbly light brown head. Tastes like alcohol, bitter coffee, chocolate, nutty, and earthy malt. Light/medium body and low carbonation. Smells earthy, nutty, like roasted malt and burnt coffee. Thanks jheath99!

2013 bottle thanks to jheath99. Pours deep, dark brown with thick, creamy tan head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malts, light earthy notes, faint prunes, and faint raisins. Favor is rich and chocolate heavy with some earthy bitterness, ash, espresso, and faint dark fruit notes; dry dark chocolate finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

Bottle via phaleslu via homer321 with a best before date of 12/31/11. So, yeah. Itís aged. Thanks guys for finally ditching this garbage juice on a guy who you know will actually drink it! Pours a thinish looking dark brown, almost black with a dark tan head that slowy rises and fades to nothing almost instantly. Aromas of molasses, anise, leather. Some dark fruit. Taste is nearly flat with a wicked dark fruit and liquorish note followed by a huge ash character coupled with a nice dose of wet cardboard and asphalt. Semi sweet. This is borderline undrinkable, buttfuck it, I WILL FINISH THIS BEER IF IT KILLS ME. Mouthfeel is thin and ashy, chalky. Almost no carb. Fuck, this is bad. Finishes on a note of backwoods Georgia cum dumpster trailer trash. Both you guys should feel bad about this beer.

650 ml bottle from secret santa. thanks. Pours a blackish with a medium khaki colored head that has good retention. The aroma features roasted grains, barley, dark chocolate and some orange. The taste showcases more dark chocolates, well roasted barley, indistinct fruits, and bitter hazelnuts. The palate was just a bit thinner than I expect for an impy stout and the carbonation was soft. Finished long and dry with lingering dark chocolates. Overall: I like the fact that it was not sweet. Iím probably being a bit harder on this than I should--righteous stout.
