3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 crossovert (2547) - Wisconsin, USA - MAR 9, 2011
Very nice, better than the 420 for sure. It isn’t the hoppiest son of a bitch but it is good.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 glennmastrange (1547) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - FEB 24, 2011
Bottle. Moderate malt aromas of light bread and caramel, orange for the hops, faint dough for the yeast, with a note of date in the background. Head is small, frothy, slightly off-white with no lacing and is almost fully diminishing. Color is hazy, amber/orange. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is medium, watery with a soft carbonation. Simple and straightforward, this IPA is well rounded and perfectly balanced.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 oobawa (549) - South Carolina, USA - FEB 15, 2011
UPDATED: MAY 16, 2011 Big citrus, oh how I love thee. Three years and I’m still not tired of this awesome IPA. Plenty come close but nobody matches the citric-hop wonder that is Sweetwater IPA. If only the restaurants in Charleston would add IPA next to that 420 tap!!
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 mataichi (63) - Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, USA - FEB 6, 2011
Growler from CBX. Pours deep copper color with medium white head. Mild aroma of citrus/grapefruit. Mild taste of citrus/grapefruit but missing the big bitter punch at the end. Very good and very drinkable. This will NOT get old after a couple.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 markwise (2695) - North of Tampa, Florida, USA - FEB 6, 2011
Thanks kiefdog for the share. Pours translucent orange amber with a white head. Nose is malt, pepper, citrus, spice, and some floral hops. Flavor is similar with a good deal of spice on top of the caramel and grapefruit. This must have been fresh because the rendition of it we get in Florida has never been as good as this one from Alabama.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 13mikey (503) - New Hope, Minnesota, USA - FEB 3, 2011
12 oz bottle from Noah. Dark golden hazy pour with a creamy white head. Bitter hoppy aroma and malty hoppy bite to the flavor. Almost tastes like an English style IPA. Very nice beer.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 mlunger12 (447) - Tallahassee, Florida, USA - JAN 26, 2011
12oz bottle, a light lacing head, a light hoppy aroma, citrus, earthy, first sip is a bit sweet, not overly hoppy, a bit malty, not too special... I’ll have to try this a bit fresher.
3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 DavoleBomb (965) - Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 18, 2011
Poured into a pint glass. Big thanks to jyounger30 for this one.
3.5 A: Clear light orange color. Two fingers of creamy off white head with average retention and a decent amount of lacing.
4.5 S: What a crazy interesting aroma! Hops give off grapefruit, orange, and mango that somehow combine to give a rather intense watermelon jolly rancher aroma (which I’ve never experience before).
4.0 T: Soft bitter backbone, which is overtaken by strong hop flavor. Hops include grapefruit, a touch of pine, and a touch of mango with a surprisingly big herbal component. Touch of crystal for the malts.
3.5 M: Light to medium body. Healthy amount of carbonation, perhaps even a bit too much. A bit creamy, but could be moreso.
4.0 D: Very interesting brew and definitely worth a try.
