12 oz bottle. Pours a gold, copper color with a thin white head. Minimal lacing. Nose is grapefruit and pine. Lively mouthfeel. Flavor was quite hoppy as you would expect. Grapefruit dominates the flavor, but there is some malt & caramel too, for balance. Finished dry and bitter.
3.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 SQNfan (591) - Wheaton, Illinois, USA - MAY 22, 2008
Bottle: Deep copper to amber in color that poured a thin head which quickly dissipated. The nose was semi-sweet with aromas of caramel, citric hops, herbs, malt and spice. In the mouth the flavors were muted in this medium-bodied and dry beer. While the nose shows some sweetness and complexity the flavors are much more tame and muted.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 phishpond417 (2089) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 13, 2008
This brew pours an orange colour with a medium sized white head. The initial taste of this brew is of highly fruity character, then it finishes smooth with a bitter citrusy taste. Plenty of grapefruit aroma and fresh hops.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 nick76 (3461) - Tampa, Florida, USA - MAY 13, 2008
The aroma smells like a proper IPA with citrus and pine hops to go along with sweet and slightly roasted malts. The appearance is amber with a somewhat thin head. The flavor is sort-of like the aroma but not quite as good. It’s focus is on a bitter and somewhat unpleasant taste, the sweetness is still present though. The palate is thin. Overall not bad but still needs some work.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Drake (4803) - Charlottesville, Virginia, USA - MAY 10, 2008
Bottle courtesy of TheBeerCellar. Thanks Matt! Pours red tinged orange with a medium head. VERY strong hop aroma... floral and pine. Taste is much smoother... and the hops seem almost hidden. Nicely balanced once you can find them, and while I wish they were more assertive, it is nice that they are on the mellower side. The hop bomb aroma and the mellow taste make this an interesting one.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 emacgee (2844) - Carrboro, North Carolina, USA - MAY 7, 2008
Thanks ucusty. Pours a light copper amber with a two finger creamy off orange head. The nose is hoppy, earthy, malty, a little weird. Bottle seems like it may be off. Probably a good IPA. Flavor is nice and hoppy, citrusy hops, sweet malt, earthy flavors. Very light alcohol. Finishes a little funky and old. Taking the bottle condition into account this is probably pretty good.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 aubreya (676) - Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA - MAY 7, 2008
The color was golden/amber. The head was creamy and off-white. The aroma was citrisy, light pine, hops, and a very slight rotten smell. The flavor was hops, alcohol, and rotten fruit. The palate was average. The finish was waxy/bitter.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 pintsize (1042) - Austin, Texas, USA - MAY 3, 2008
4-19-08 bottle shared with lb4lb thanks to robbmotiwalla
Thick cloudy amber brown orange with a watery ivory cream colored head and good ringed lacing. Good flavor of oranges and hops. Average mouthfeel. Not a big or bold IPA in my opinion but a good beer nonetheless.
