COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This mammoth IPA is defined by generous quantities of premium hops and balanced with a premium selection of English malt. Traditionally unfiltered IPA’s lead to the slight haze appearance. An extensive dry-hopping process contributes to its very intense floral hop aroma. The IPA is unfiltered and as always, unpasteurized to leave all the natural flavors intact. If you’re at the brewery you’ll be able to guess what style of beer every brewer has in his hand. THE BEER YOU'VE BEEN TRAINING FOR!

Malt: 2 Row, Pale Malt, Munich, 70-80 Crystal, Wheat

Hops: Columbus, Golding

Dry Hop: Columbus, Golding

Bottle pours golden, fairly clear, large foamy off-white head, sticky lacing, with light carbonation.   Mild hop aroma.   Hops, slightly sweet, maybe a bit of butterscotch in the flavor.   Decent body, medium mouthfeel.   Mild bitterness on the finish, slightly malty, dry, with some citrus notes.   Nothing unusual or fantastic, but its fairly solid.   Thanks goes out to goldtwins for the trade!

11/4/04. Poured out of 12 oz. bottle, obtained in a trade with CaptainCougar on RateBeer 10/21/04. Pours a faintly hazy tangerine-orange-amber color with decent but rocky and dissipating offwhite head. Spotty lacing. Very nice nose with a nice medley of dried fruit and citrus (apricot, peach and orange), some grassy hops and a very subtle sweetness matched with a light acidity. Flavor falls right in line where it should, with a touch of apricot, light biscuit and subtly sweet, floral hops and nectar, but also pulling a huge, sharply bitter, crisp hop punch out of nowhere. Almost ash-like in its potency. Body is just too thin and the mouthfeel doesn’t dazzle-- sort of feels like the beer is falling apart from its carbonation. Weird. Very long finish, on the other hand, is extremely impressive and smooth. Bitterness attacks from all angles. A very nice, "Serious" IPA with a lot going on and a fairly good balance, but the grassiness is something I’m still getting used to. I could see some people drinking pint after pint of this stuff-- just not me.

Orange coloured. Quite hoppy aroma. The flavour is rather light and bitter. Lacks some body.

Bottle Pours a clear golden amber with a very thick sandy colored frothy head. Aroma is quite citrusy, mostly orange, not as sharp as some others that have a lot of grapefruit in the aroma. Honey and light malts as well. Flavor is plenty of hops but the flavor is soft and easy. As far as IPAs go the easiest one I can remember as far as drinkablility. Feel is soft and smooth, and the trailer is fairly woody and cardboardish. Quite good for the style. Thanks to Captain Cougar for this one.

This is by far the best IPA I’ve ever had. It strays from the bitter over-hoppiness of many of its cousins. It tastes very hoppy, but in a wonderfully floral fashion. It’s just a great IPA. Highly recommended.

UPDATED: JUN 21, 2013 2004 - Clear Amber with little white head. Disappointed for my first attempt at sweetwater. reminded me of typical microbrew "copper" ale. Decent hoppiness but a little soapy. edit 2013 - my favorite beer. I live in FL now and maybe its because the beer travels less but the flavors and hops are perfect. I buy this beer everyweek

Clear yellow gold.Flowery and perfumy Hops were the highlight of this beer. Malts were way too forgotten. Citrusy taste was fine, bitter and flowery at the finish. Not the huge tasty treat that Argo and Oakes once drank, I think this has undergone some changes!

First off, this smells great. Secondly, it tastes quite good. It is not too hoppy as IPAs have a tendency of being, and it is mildly sweet and well balanced. I like it!

Perfume, yeast nost. Dry. This reminded more of say a pale ale than an IPA. No hops whatsoever. Watered down and nearly flavorless.

Was one of the better IPAs I have ever had. It had a great color to it and slightly powerful taste going down. I would definately have this again.
