Pours a hazy amber with a sudsy off-white head. Aromas of yeast, pine, and spices. Flavor has a good bit of the rye spice in it with some citrus coming through and a tad caramel malt balance as well. A bit of a watery mouth feel and comes off a little bland but still not a bad offering, just not as good as their standard IPA.

Had after a Sweetwater IPA to compare the two. Pours a dark clear amber/orange with a small off-white head. Aroma is rye and some hops: citrus, mild grapefruit, and some pine. Taste is similar, with a more pronounced rye character and less hops. Finish is less bitter and less sweet overall. This is the first rye IPA Iíve had, so I donít really have anything to compare it to. Good, but not as good as the IPA. Still not sure how two IPAís belong in a winter variety pack.

Think Iíve had this on tap somewhere along the way, but no rating, so here we are: 12oz bottle from Publix. Golden pour with a thin off-white. Aroma is light rye and citrus. Tastes are orange, lemon, bready, rye, caramel, little pepper. Finishes grapefruit bitter and dry. Good balance - drinkable.

Nice spicy dark rye iPa. Very dry. Perhaps could use a dash of sweetness to balance the dry spicy rye which is very prevalent. But Iím not complaining nice full bodied iPa that isnít too heavy. Good damn beer.

Pours a slightly hazy golden orange from the bottle with fluffy off-white head and great lacing. Aroma of citrus from the hops and faint spiciness from the rye. Taste follows, with a bitter finish and a lasting herbal note. Well balanced, solid beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Ar: Fresh grapefruit rind, some orange pith, and some toasty malt.
Ap: Orange, slightly hazy - small off-white head with moderate retention, leaving a ring of foam and some sudsy lacing.
T: Smooth and juicy citrus up front, mixes with some spicy malt - medium-sweet - bitterness is earthy and citrusy, medium-high, and builds up - finish is citrus and a hint of light caramel.
P: Medium body, oily and smooth - medium-high carbonation - finish is dry.
O: Tasty rye IPA - the rye adds some great spicy notes and really seems to come through in the mouthfeel - citrus hops are nice and fresh and round out the beer nicely.
