Road trips are carefree adventures that usually take unexpected twists, like when we created this beer. It started out as a Pilsner recipe, but halfway through it blew a tire and Ale yeast was put on as the spare. The result was so good, it never could have been planned!

Poured a very light golden color, with a small white head. Very straightforward, small amount of biscuit before finishing with a tiny dose of hops. A relatively dry finish overall. I enjoyed it with my dinner, nothing bad about it, just not much to it in general.

Very odd. Bottle said it was brewed to be a pilsner but ale yeast was used instead. And I am not sure if an American double pilsner is spot on for style. Pours a relatively clear but slightly cloudy golden color. No head but some film. However, there is a some extreme carbonation going on in the glass. Nose is malty and an off-sourness that I donít really like. flavor is just wierd. Ale body and texture but a pilsner flavor. Is there such a thing as a bi-polar, schizophrenic beer? Malts and biscuits and something akin to wet paper. I would almost say this beer is passed its prime but the bottle says best before 9/17/07 (plus it is summer and this is the summer seasonal). hops give off a wierd sourness that is like sucking on cardboard. Ale-like body is a bit heavy for the style. Not something I would grab on a hot summer day.

Ainít nothing wrong with this one. Slightly grassy aroma with some orange and peach aromas faintly in the background. Surprisingly strong bitterness on top of a crisp apple and honey flavor. A decent mistake but I donít know if itís worth continuing to produce it.

UPDATED: JUL 5, 2011 12oz bottle from TheBeerCellar - thanks, Matt! A mighty fine extra, and the first Iíve ever had from Sweetwater I think. Can definitely taste the pilsner in there waiting to break out, with a nice flavorful ESB jockeying for position as well. It comes together more or less, not perfectly integrated but refreshing, mildly complex, and very enjoyable.

Thanks to goldtwins for this one. Pale golden/yellow beer with a thin white head. Light cloudiness. Bright citrusy aroma, a light lemony/herbal hoppiness. Loads of noble hop character throughout this with a soft pilsner malt base. Very hoppy flavour with loads of saaz character. A touch of sulfury flavour on the back. the ale yeast doesnít really contribute much at all to this leaving a behind a lovely pilsner-style brew that would be fantastic for the summer. I really enjoyed this one.

Not Sweetwaters best attempt. I think if they release it again they will change the recipe and should be way better. They know what they are doing over there so try generation two of this brew.

UPDATED: JUN 17, 2009 Appearance: Pours a clear, effervescent-looking gold body with a thinnish, though creamy white head. Smell: A funky, musky yeastiness quickly hurried behind a curtain of soapy, grassy hop notes and hints of biscuits. Taste: A real mishmash of flavors here. Sweet bready malts, a splash of watered down grapefruit juice, grass, and a squirt or two of industrial-strength handsoap. Quick finish with a touch of slickness. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Slightly slick mouthfeel. Moderate carbonation. Drinkability: This beer didnít come together for me at all. So far, these Sweetwater "Catch & Release" beers are 0 for 2 with me. Release! Release!!

Bottle courtesy of TBC. Pours gold with sparse white bubbles. Smells of citrus, some light malt, and pepper. Tastes of caramel, some light citrus and pepper. Watery mouthfeel. Decent lawnmower beer.

Bottle: Pale yellow/golden pour with a well retained white head. Has a grainy aroma, with some subtle hop notes. The body is a bit thin, and itís a bit sweet in flavor, however it remains balanced. Grainy malt subtleties, with a very mild lemon touch. Clean and simple, yet enjoyable. Feels like a sweet/mild Pilsener.
