Tap. Poured black with a beige, lacing head. Ash, roasted malts, burnt wood, hints of plum and raisins in the aroma. Fairly light body with high carbonation. Dry, roasted aftertaste. Nothing special here, a bit too watery, but otherwise itís good.

Tap. Pours a clear dark brown, almost black, body with a minimal wispy light brown head. Decent nose, albeit fairly light, some coffee and roastiness. The flavor is a little thin as well with some light coffee. No real oat character save for a bit on the finish. Mouthfeel is light bodied and a touch thin with soft light carbonation. Overall, itís got pretty decent flavor, but itís too thin.

Pours a thin dark brown with a thin tan head. Bitter flavor. Lots of roast hints of chocolate. Light sweetness with a bitter end. Nice stout.

Draft. A dark pour produces a good frothy head and scattered lacing. Chocolate stands in this one with oatmeal, coffee and toasted grains following. Mild roast just to let you know itís there. Creamy, light, and easy drinking. Nothing earth shattering but pretty good stuff.

Tap. Pours dark brown with a medium, creamy brown head, lasting with good lacing. Aroma is roasted, chocolate, and caramel malt, sweet with light floral hops and dark fruit notes. Flavor is dark malt, medium hop bitterness, and some lingering sweetness. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, creamy texture.

On tap in Falls Church. Light roasted notes. Chocolate and burnt character. Good sharp bitter nose with underlying sweetness. Molasses, lactose. Dark brown black clear with thin off-white head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Starts and stays sweet with licorice and chocolate, roasted malt and light bitterness. Mild acrid smoke and burnt patent at the finish with decent bittering. Sweet nutty roasted after. Light chlorine.

Served on draft at the Merrifield location. Pours a very dark mahogany color appearing black in the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, smoke and oats. Very dry taste with notes of nuts, lactose, slight roast and very slight fruitiness. Bitter hop finish. Medium bodied.

Draft sample at Merrifield location. Pours black with khaki head. Nose is roast and caramel, slight coffee. Taste is coffee and roasted malts with hop bitterness. Thereís a nice sweetness to it, maybe a touch of lactose. Rather moderate mouthfeel. Pretty decent offering.

A very good stout. The aroma is roasted, coffeeish, and a little oily. The flavor is creamy with hints of coffee and dark chocolate. It is also a fairly bitter and dry stout, which I really like a lot, itís a good contrast to some of the more sweet English stouts. I like this alot, definitely try it if youíre in the Northern Virginia area and you like robust, dark beer.
