Translucent chestnut, oily cream top, large bubbled ring. Nose is rich roast, wood, caramel sweetness in check by grain. Flavor is fantastically balanced, so much toasty grain and honey, huge balance, yet so delicate through the silky finish. Fantastic shit.

I think this should probably be listed as a schwarzbier. Big roasty, chocolate nose, some light toffee and a touch of molasses. Nice and dry taste, lightly bitter, lots of milk chocolate, a bit of roast, very light smoke and a bit of molasses. Medium/light body is silky smooth with moderate carbonation. Brilliant stuff!

Pours a deep mahogany color but slightly transparent. Decent malt profile of caramel and chocolate malt. Slight bitter metallic hop finish. All of it comes in a little flat. I would think you could add a little more of everything and get a more full bodied beer.

Dark brown ruby with a creamy tan head. Big roasted malt aroma with some smokiness. The flavor is roasted malt with some bitterness with chocolate and coffee backing it up. Medium body, smooth nice finish.

Deep red, wispy creamy mocha head. Nose a bit coffee. Coffee repeats in flavor, bit of bitter. Too thin, fades at end.

On tap 6 oz. sampler at Sweetwater Tavern in Centreville, VA. Clear, very dark mahogany with no head and fair lacing. It appears the head was removed before serving. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, wood, grain, caramel and a touch of light fruit. Taste of sweet roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, coffee, smoked wood and nuts. Medium/full body and low/medium carbonization. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

bottle shared at Grand Tasting - grassy and nutty with plenty of lagery yeast character and a touch of roast and chocolate.

Dark reddish brown appearance with a head that looks like it was nitro poured. Aroma was filled with toasted malts, coffee and a hint of nuttiness. Medium-bodied flavor that was just a tad on the thin side. Reminded me more of a schwarzbier with the moderate bitterness and lack of fruitiness.

Growler. Clear brown pour with a very fluffy light tan head. Aroma of smoke, chocolate, and licorice. Lightly sweet chocolaty flavor with some cracker and smoke. Goes down real smooth and easy. Some bitter hops to finish. Amazing session beer.
