(Merrifield) Crystal clear copper body with healthy off-white head. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, strawberry rhubarb pie, light sour. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, light eathy, chocolate. Finishes with some lager yeast sourness. Watery, light-medium body. Seems to be missing some of the sweetness for the style.

Tap at Centreville. Pours clear tawny with a medium, creamy beige head, medium-short retention with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, nutty, toast, cereal), light spicy hops, and clean lager notes. Flavor is heavy malt (bread, nutty, toast, cereal), average spicy hops, clean lager character, and notes of leaves. Medium body, low warmth, medium carbonation with a dry and crisp finish.

Draft at merrifiend location. Pours a reddish, "rusty" color with a off white head. Aroma has a nice hop character mixed in with the malts. Flavor is good, nice crisp flavor. Refreshing.

On tap in Falls Church. Malty with big buckwheat honey aroma. Light flowery hops, neutral fruit. Coppery amber clear with thin head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Caramel malt, honey sweetness. Residual grain notes, cherry wood, and mild flowery hop note. Light bitter finish with residual sweetness. Sweet nutty after. Like a sweet nut brown ale.

On tap at the tavern. Pours a reddish brown clear color with an off white head. Aroma is fruity like a lager but the taste is malty and chocolatey. Actually pretty good and easy drinking.

Clear copper with a dense light tan head and decent glass lace. The aroma is lighlty chocolate, quite bready almost toasty. The flavor is nutty toasty bread, light caramle and chocolate. Medium sweet with light bitterness throughout. Medium body, very quaffable. This one is quite nice, especially for this oft abused style.

Reddish auburn with a very thin white head. Nose is thin, some malts, lightly cola-sweet. Maltiness in this one is incredibly toasty and bready, there’s some dunkel-esque caramel, but it’s mostly like drinking toast. Some sudden hops at the end, finishes very dry. Not really what I was expecting as a dunkel, but still rather enjoyed it.

Draft at Falls Church. Amber color, thin long-lasting head. Good lacing. Caramel malt, a touch of sweet hops, roasty notes with chocolate and oatmeal. Interesting beer. It tastes like an Amber but has the chocolate, oatmeal and roasty notes. It’s all light and thinish with none of it coming through strong. Pretty solid beer.

A deep reddish rust color, with a significant head and lacing. Cherry and hickory on the nose are quite pleasant. Lots of chocolate and caramel in the aroma and flavor. A good amount of carbonation gives weight to the beer. Bittering on the finish. A nice, long dunkel that geos far beyond the grain ingredients to give substance and style to the beer.
