Currently on draft at Sweetwater Tavern, Merrifield, VA. Poured a heavily cloudy brown color. Aroma was some spice notes, touch of dark fruits and a tinge of citrus. Could tell that there was alcohol in there - so I sipped it through my entire dinner. Not as refreshing as I hoped, but decent.
1.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20 Thorpe429 (4844) - , Illinois, USA - APR 15, 2011
On tap at The Brickskeller on December 9, 2010. Apparently not retired, as this was a freshly-made weizenbock.
Pours a super cloudy light copper color without any head or lacing. The nose immediately brings forward some banana-flavored nail polish remover along with loads of fusel alcohol. A combination of banana and booze that smells like some sort of banana liqueur.
The taste is just as bad with just strong, strong notes of fusel alcohol along with a bit of banana. No notes of clove or bubblegum. Something went quite array with the yeast here. Body is medium with a straight alcohol finish. Not a huge fan of this. Apparently the recipe is up to 8.6% alcohol now.
Serving type: on-tap

On tap at SW Centerville. Cloudy brown with a touch of orange. Fruity malt aroma followed by a touch of funky yeast. Fruitcake and burnt toast flavor notes. Overall, it’s not a bad brew... good for the winter.

Our friends form NOVA brought a growler of this beer to a skiing trip. The aroma of friut was strong. The color was clear yet it poured with a very large head. This is just not my style of beer. Too sweet and fruity. Others liked it
3.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 BeMerry (37) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - JAN 25, 2008
Draft at Sweetwater Tavern, Merrifield, VA. Color amber. Aroma mild fruit. Taste: medium sweet, clove, fruit, perhaps citrus. Different tastes march along tongue from front to back, ending in zesty tingle that slowly drops off yet lingers. Very refreshing. Mouth feel soft. Great sipping alone and with light, sweet salad.

Took home a few growlers of this one. Smell is all banana and cloves. Pours with a nice head, but served a bit too cold on draft at Centreville location. Very spicy, but drinkable. Taste is more banana and cloves, a bit of wheat. Not hard to drink a growler’s worth in a given night.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 CaptainCougar (7093) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - MAY 2, 2007
On tap at the Sterling location on 1/21/07: Pours a hazy copper orange with a pillowy white lacy head. Has a sweet wheaty, banana estery aroma with nice German yeasty notes. Body has a full sweet wheatiness and good bready yeasty texture. A nice and authentic weizenbock with a peppery clove yeasty finish that hides the alcohol well.

ODBF 06 - Ultra hazy amber, creamy white head. Complex nose of pear, spices, banana, and caramel, with lighter bready and apple tones. Flavor matched almost exactly to the nose. Medium bodied, light carbonation, caramel and fruit finish. Very nice beer Nick. A shame the rest of the festival didn’t have intersting beers like this...
