The aroma is rich chocolate with a bit of coffee. The taste is fairly balanced between chocolate and coffee, very tasty, malty good. Hops present for balance but not very noticeable on their own. Good beer, but a bit watery.

Draft. Dark brown, small briwn head with poor retention. Aroma of milk chocolate and Starbucks. Taste is similar. Not bad for 4 point something.

This beer rocks! Midnight black, sparkling clear, ruby ale. Good retention and lacework. Notes of cocoa, cream, espresso and vanilla. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Short, burnt, coffee finish. World class stout!

On tap 12/31/08: Pours a transparent dark copper mahogany with a thin light tan head. Aroma is mild and slightly roasted. Body starts with average fullness and some roasty grainy character with metallic notes before a thin finish. Pretty bland and not very stout.

Grolwer. Black bodied with a huge fomay brown head. Nose is coffe, roasted malts, dark chocolate, light woody notes, and vanilla. This is not unlike Dominion’s Oak Barrel Stout from the bottle. Taste is chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, and light cocoa. Body is smooth and fully carbonated. Very pleasant feel to it. Finish is roasty malts, chocolate and burnt coffee. Light bitterness throughout. Good stuff!

Draft at Merrifield Va location. Pours an extremely dark color - almost black. Extremely dark brown colored head. Aroma is roasty. Flavor is roasty, with touches of chocolate. It’s pretty smooth - and compliments a dinner quite well.

Tap at Sterling. Poured a dark brown, with a light brown head. Looked a little creamy. Aroma was light, of coffee and chocolate. Flavor was mostly roasted malt, coffee and some chocolate hints. Have had better of the style.

Nice dry stout, clean yeast, well attenuated, light chocolate and a touch of cola. Medium/light body is soft with light carbonation. Nice stuff.

Draft. Pours a pitch black with a nice, creamy tan head. The head is slow to fade leaving behind excellent lacing. Coffee, caramel, and vanilla are present in the nose. Low carbonation and a very creamy mouthfeel. A bit of dryness as expected for the style. Coffee and a bite of bittersweet chocolate on the palate. The coffee taste lingers awhile. The body is a little too watery in my opinion.
