COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This premium pilsener is brewed with pure mineral water, a blend of the best barley malts and specially selected Cascade hops from the American Yakima Valley. Swinckels' Volmaakt is unpasteurized and freshly cooled at the brewery. This is why nothing of it's fresh flavor is lost. Swinckels' Volmaakt is available at the Brouwerij Cafe in Lieshout. 330ml bottle (Merlin, RIga)
4 Weird aroma, very estery and with a strange sour fruity spicy sulfury hoppy mess. Some butter like a Greede Kerching, Definitely full of something.
1+ Pale and fizzy, and tragically it’s a clear glass bottle. That might explain the weirdness of the aroma (I’ve never encountered a skunk, I wouldn’t know one from a goth squirrel.)
4 Odd bitter taste, like a crappy eastern european pale lager that’s had the water removed. I.e. concentrated not-good-ness. 2+ Watery, crisp carbonation. Some alcohol, some dusty dirt in the finish. At least it has a real kick of bitter hops.
7 I can’t imagine why this got high scores off people. I guess this bottle has been sitting near too many incandescent light for too long. But if the dozy fuckers put it in a clear glass bottle, they’re to blame.

11.2 ounce bottle - Olde Crabapple Bottle Shoppe in Alpharetta, Georgia. A fancy, albeit it clear bottle design.

Appearance: Pours a clear, golden body with a full inch of snow white suds. Thin layers of lacing on the descent.

Smell: Smells skunky immediately upon opening the bottle, though not overpowering, as it is in some cases. Given a moment to waft away, it reveals a faintly sweetish pils malt scent with wee notes of spice and citrus.

Taste: Lightly sweet, softly grainy pilsner maltiness. A few pleasant drops of honey water. Low lemony citrus quality. A hint of spicy, bitter herbs accompanied by some bitterness to balance. Soft, subtle, drying finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Moderate carbonation.

Overall: A beer that seems it’d be far, far better fresh at its source and preferably on tap, as these clear, ornate bottles won’t properly protect its contents within for long journeys.

It comes in a funky clear bottle. It is standard skunky euro pale lager type swill. The bottle rules though. I originally reviewed this under a different name but i think this is what i had.

Bottled 330ml. -from Julius Meinl Am Graben, Vienna. Clear golden coloured, medium sized white head, mild malty nose. Moderate malty, dusty and light grassy with short watery finish. What to expect from fancy looking bottles except bad beer in it. And where’s Cascade hops here???

Seems nothing special to me. Pretty standard, not much different tasting than other pilseners, just a little more exclusive I guess.

To me it seems like this is just pilsener, made a bit more exclusive so it can reel more money in. Smell wasn’t very good.

Countbeer (1737) - Best of Eindhoven ohne Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - JUN 9, 2011
Bottle: Small white head on top of a clear golden yellow colored beer. Smell malts, light citrussy, lime and peanut butter. Taste is a fresh malty mix of spices, hops, caramel hint of nuts and herbs. Very light bitter aftertaste. Low carbo, medium body, soft mouthfeel and a light watery texture. Nice!
