3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Pawola22 (3180) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 30, 2013
33cl bottle from Csak a Jó Sör - Only Good Beer in Budapest. Pours a deep brown colored body with a slight purple hue. Finger-width, creamy, purple head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is slightly medicinal berries and currants with traces of caramel, spice, roast, and a faint tartness. Flavor is better. Nice caramel base with a solid berry fruitiness. A slight medicinal quality to the bitter hops, but not distracting. Hints of cocoa, roasts, and some spices show up with a touch of tartness before this finishes smooth and somewhat dry and bitter with plenty of berries. Lengthy aftertaste following a soft, medium body and a slightly creamy, medium-light carbonation. Overall, an interesting beer. The fruits are very distinct, but the malts and dunkel base still plays a nice role in balancing this out. The slight medicinal note is my only beef. Nice beer.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Lore (447) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JAN 19, 2013
UPDATED: MAR 9, 2013 black beer-like dark colour, minimal beige head which disappears immediately; pleasant fruitty afoma of blueberry and other berries; taste of berries, dark chocolate, roasted sugar (but fortunately not disturbingly intensive sweetness, mainly the bitterness of it) and alcohol in the background; really good beer

330ml bottle from Csak a Jó Sór in Budapest. Almost jet black body. Fading beige head, spotty lacing. Quite inviting smell of blueberries and blackcurrants mixed with dark malts. Berries, semi-tart, together with dark caramel malts resulting in a bit jam-like flavour. Mid-tart ending. Unusual and quite tasty (Cabin at MS Rügen, 03.08.2012).
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 rosenbergh (4762) - Helsinki, FINLAND - AUG 15, 2012
330 ml bottle. From Budapest, Hungary. Thanks Armando!
Black colour with tiny greyish frothy head.
Aroma is nice mixture of strong ale and berries. Some berries, not just bilberries, some sugary sweetness and right amount of vinous alcohol.
Flavour is strong. Lots of vinous and liqueur alcohol strength. Berries, sugary sweetness and some mild liquorice dryness.
Very nice for a Doppelbock. Slightly thin though. I believe this is the best Hungarian beer so far for me.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Brandman (1456) - Helsinki, FINLAND - AUG 15, 2012
Black body, almost no head. Aroma of berries, not particularly blue berries. Sweet aroma. Flavour is intense and more blueberryful than aroma. Little funky twist. Sweet and alcoholic. Interesting. Light berry liqueur.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Hermod (2226) - Vantaa, FINLAND - AUG 14, 2012
33cl botle from Csakajosör. BBE 07/2013. Poured dark brown, with a thin white head. Blueberry in aroma, also broth (meat), ripe berries. Flavor has ripe berries, blueberry, alcohol warmth in finish, otherwise alcohol is nicely hidden. Very sweet. Not a fan of fruit beers and this one did not change my mind either.
