4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Travlr (7953) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - JUL 22, 2011
Bottle at DHL. Cloudy golden color, massive ice cream cone head. Aroma of cut grass and licorice. Taste is bitter throughout, approaching an American IPA Balanced, with a dry finish. Not really a tripel, but very tasty.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 MoritzF (7756) - Bochum, GERMANY - APR 7, 2009
(33cl bottle) Hazy, deep orange to amber colour with a short almost white foamy layer. Light-sweet apricot- and peach-fruity aroma with a slightly woody, almost English hoppy touch. Sweet-bitter flavour, full bodied with a moderate carbonation. Soft (cara-)malty base with a moderate fruit character, shades of licorice and herbal, slightly woody hops. Moderately sweet malty and spicy finish with a good dash of aromatic hops. Another nice one from this promising brewer (07.IV.09).
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 FatPhil (7494) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - MAR 12, 2008
Bottle (ZBF2008)
Dark orange. A little bit sweet and flowery, but also sour too. Some hops. Bit of a mish-mash, not very well integrated, and none of the details stick out enough to be interesting.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 BeerandBlues2 (7418) - Hanover, Maryland, USA - JAN 14, 2009
Bottle. Gusher. Pours hazy orange with an average, fizzy, white head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is average malt (hay, straw), average hops (grass), heavy yeast (horse blanket, barnyard, earth) with notes of pear, cask, and dust. Light bodied, gritty texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, light sweetness and acidity, moderate bitterness.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 JorisPPattyn (7299) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JUN 12, 2008
Gushing to rather small, irregular off-white head over fully hazy amber beer with a pinkish glow. End of bottle near solid yeast. Floral, garden herbs, wormwood nose, hint at alcohol. Sweet-spicy flavours, again garden herbs. Factory (thin) waffles, if not so sweet. Bread retronasal. Rather well-bodied, very slick, as wheat slickness, maybe even a bit oily, palate neutral. Nothing is wrong, little is really interesting. Earlier Rating: 12/3/2005 Total Score: 3.5 Good off-white head; pale amber beer wiith a lot of suspension. Alcoholic, coriander and white candi sugar in the nose. Combination of alcoholsweet and roasted malts taste, citrus (orange peel), touch of cake or pastry. Alcoholburn, quite well-bodied, long burning sweet-roasted aftertaste. Stereotypic, but good Belgian strong ale. Has faint bready notes, reminiscent of German beers.

A Mes rate:
Draught at ZBF. Murky brown. Usual boring spicy Beligan tripel. Slight sweetness in the aroma. Tangy with a little cheesey type behaviour in the mouth. Bitterish finish. Yeah yeah.

glad I cellared it several months. Pours a bit of head, lighter colour. Spicey and yeasty aroma. Very nice, dry and spicy and yeasty. Above average mouthfeel. Very drinkable, delicate balance, and finishes with a pepperness.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 3fourths (6932) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUN 12, 2006
UPDATED: AUG 8, 2007 Bottle, vintage unknown
Consumed at Bier Circus, Brussels, May 2006 Fruity nose, with scents of melon and oranges, sweet smelling. Up front it’s mostly sweet citrus fruit like mandarin oranges, lemon and grapefruit, but not sour at all. There’s a light dryness on the middle of the tongue, turning into a overwhelming tinny metallic flavor, which really kills this beer in the finish.
