DruncanVeasey (6114) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Premier, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - MAY 15, 2013
330ml bottle from Arden Wines. Pours opaque orange with a subsiding whip of foam. Aroma of cough mixture, perfumed hop suggesting pineapple and lemon zest, slight farmyard yeast, plenty of alcohol. Face-off cough mixture front, still condition, more cough mixture, light breadiness, mildly drying flat finish forthright with booze. Promises magic but doesn’t deliver.

Ernest (5622) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JAN 14, 2009
Bottle (gusher). Head is initially huge, frothy, off-white, fully lasting. Body is hazy dark yellow to light amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted bread, malt syrup), lightly hoppy (flowers, apricot), lightly yeasty (basement, cobwebs), with notes of baked apple and pear syrup. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium to full body, creamy texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic. Well, it sure as heck isn’t a tripel...very sweet, not very yeasty, and really pretty dull and clumsy in the nose. Not a very good rendition. Beautiful appearance, though, I have to give it that. Pretty nice mouthfeel too. But the aroma and flavor balance just aren’t there.

Bottle @ Frigo, Shibuya, Tokyo: Thin head, light lacing, nose of sweet hops, clean malt, nice bouquet and a floral flavor. Hoppy overall with some malt sweetness. Good.

Flip top bottle and served in my big ole Karmeliet glass: Hazy deep golden hue with a frothy white head and good lace. The aroma has notes of apricot, ripe peach, bubblegum, toffee, clove, ginger, yeast driven esters, and a hint of noble hops. The taste is fruity and malty sweet as expected but not so much that it became cloy. Herbal spicy hop note and moderate alcohol helps with balance. The mouth feel is slightly sticky and medium-bodied. A solid offering.

Svesse (5197) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - JUL 9, 2009
(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Wallingatan, Stockholm) Pale amber colour with brief, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of dried apricots, slightly toasty malt and spicy hops. Fruity, malty taste with orange peel, apricots, toasty grain, some candy and spicy hops in the finish. Medium body, not so sweet, with a generous, spicy hop character. Good balance. Nice beer.
