/10/11/11//11

Weird dubbel. Very dark orange brown. Good head. Sweet, and over spiced. A winterbeer, not bad, overdone with the herbs. Caramel, malts, fruits, apple.

Bouteille 33cl. Abbey dubbel? not sure.

Poured a murky darkish amber. Ample cream/white head that left noticeable lacing. Slightly hoppy and very malty. Sort of a watered down Old Ale scent. Same as the nose. Watered down Old Ale. The hops are not as present in the taste. The maltiness is very strong and makes it seem like Malta Goya. Kind of thin. The cloyingly sweet malt sticks around for awhile after drinking. Not impressive. Decent if you want a cloyingly sweet high ABV beer. Not very balanced, but the ABV is very muted.

(Bottle, 0.75 l - generously offered by Fin, thanks, at the 16th Kerstbierfestival) The beer looked like the water in a very muddy lake. Its head was small and white. Aroma had vineousness and fruitiness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, sweetness, vineousness, fruitiness, spices and bitterness. Aftertaste was spicy and mildly bitter. The ugliest looking beer I’ve seen in a very long time. Its tasted and aroma were okish.

Bottle at Kerstbier Festival, Essen, Belgique, 18.12.10 This pours looking like the muddiest puddle I ever did see, it looks shocking. Sour tang, but also a slight perfumey flavour, quite floral. This is actually really highly fragranced, like a Thai meal at times, also I begin to think it’s a bit like eating one of those fragranced hot handwipes that you get given in a nice Chinese or Thai restaurant, that said I don’t dislike this unusual beer. Bottle at RBNAG-2009. Amber-orange colour with an off-white head. Aroma is flower, herbs, hop. Flavour is sweet, flower, herbs, hop, caramel. full body. Strange beer.
