Dark-brown color, nice cloudy tan head. Aroma of molasses, tobacco, cold coffee and some licorice. Roasted malty, very ashy flavor. FInish is bitterish-roasted. Nice soft and velvety mouthfeel. Just too much ash and tobacco in the flavor for my liking. Otherwise quite ok. sayravai (3729), Helsinki, Finland
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 18, 2009 (Bottled) Very, very dark brown with a smallish, tanned head with some lace. Aroma of milky sourness, strong licorice, sweet and lightly roasty malt. Roasted-malty, slightly sour flavor with an ashy-burned finish. Medium, reasonably velvety body with soft carbonation. A bit too burned-ashy stout - and not very interesting, either. pivnizub (5002), Bochum, Porúří, Germany
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 4, 2009 Bouteille: Literally black, presumably hazy with a small beige off-white layer; dark roasted malt, a light sweetness, liquorice and a touch of barnyard in the nose; quite solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; dry roasted, but also sweet finish with some liquorice in the aftertaste. All in all a pleasure, but why must a Stout be sweet.........
