Bottle from Taniguchi. Big nose of grapefruit, orange, minerals. Dry and metallic. Pretty orange-amber with lace. Sweet citrus and caramel, bitter finish. Very sweet in a 7-Up way, then harsh and bitter. Out of balance. Cloying. Weird. Not impressed.

maekchu (2361) - Hirakata, JAPAN - JAN 7, 2015
Bottle from Sake Taniguchi (World Beer Market). Piney hop nose, a bit earthy, some tropical fruit, and caramel. Dark reddish/orange color, thin head, and fat-bubble lace. Citrusy, thick fruit initial, with mango, orange, lemon. Serious hopping kicks in. Sweetness intensifies in late mid and final. Medium-heavy body, warm on the tongue. Very flavorful, a bit cloying in mid. Bold nose. Maybe a little too thick on the palate.

UPDATED: DEC 29, 2014 A great collaboration. Perfect amber with beatiful white head. Very rich and fresh aroma of fruits, citrus, pine needles. It already filled the room before I finished pouring it. Taste is built of very well balanced bitterness with light malty background. Surprisingly drinkable, very enjoyable beer.

Bottle @ home. The aroma has mandarins, pine, tropical fruit. Very hoppy nose. Fantastic! Slight hint of toasted malts. Bit hazy, orange coloured beer with a lasting, medium head. The taste is moderate bitter, has tropical fruits, lots of mandarin and pine. The finish is relative dry. Though there is definately a malty background present. Very nice collab.

Fuerte carácter. Amarga intensa pero camuflada por intensa presencia alcohólica. Excelente.

Soft haze, burnt golden, neat ringed white head. Bright gummy clementine nose. Matching initial taste, clean and smashing bitterness. Clean break carbonation. Finishes steely bitter mango.

Bottle, Independence Tasting, Cheers BenH
