Otje (668), Leiden, Netherlands May 1, 2005 smooth sweetness, a little sour and very spicy, nice hopbitter in the finish. big off-white fluffy head, which deminishes quikly. nice one. JK (2946), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Apr 29, 2005 Updated: Jul 29, 2005I thought I was drinking a tripel. This beer has light fruit flavors, and an herbal/flowery aroma. Yeast flavors as well. Light brown appearance, but an alcohol bite that is not noticed until your mouth is numb. I am into this brewery. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA Apr 21, 2005 I guessed its type without knowing, so I’m definitely getter better at this, but this was one of the poorest Belgian Strongs I’ve had, esp. at its price. I even considered throwing part of it out, but at $4 for the bottle, I just couldnt. bitter (1137), Henderson, Nevada, USA Apr 6, 2005 again at the best windmill in holland: this one was a beautiful golden brown haze with bushy mushroom tan head. lots of prune and fig notes of fruit. some slight sweetness of brown sugar. nice beer....get’s you f’d up....keep watching that windmill go round and round. some strange characters of offness. smoosh (523), New Albany, Indiana, USA Apr 4, 2005 Bottle - big yeasty and fruity aroma. I get a bunch of white grape. A nice looking brew. Near medium brown with tons of floaties and a white head that lingers and lingers. Yeasty flavor matches the aroma. Fairly straight-forward and not overly complex. Nice palate. Pretty strong. Good overall. iam (369), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Mar 23, 2005 Pours a dark amber colour with a huge frothy head. Large amount of floaties. Lambic-ilke aroma. Banana, yeast, and sour malt taste. I’m thinking this beer may be off due to the huge amount of floaties. Will re-rate later. BBB63 (4199), La Porte, Indiana, USA Mar 3, 2005 Bottle 7/04: Golden hue with a large fluffy head and good lace, I got a lot of floaties due to a quick pour. The aroma has notes of sour apple and brett, barnyard yeast ester, caramelized and bready malts, a touch of belgian candi sugar, and sublime clove and maybe some corriander. The taste starts quite balanced between sugary sweetness and twangy fruit sour character. A nice moderately spiced and subdued but noticeable bitter finish, a bit woody as well. The feel is lively and mostly crisp, dry upon the finish. Overall a nice brew but not something I would likely buy again, I would drink it if offered to me. Worth a try if you like Belgian Strong Ales. lachesis (759), St Idesbald, Belgium Mar 3, 2005 Light amber beer with warm shine and light colored head. Nice malt aroma’s, touches of fresh stone fruits, cookies, caramel, yeast and vegetal hints of hops. Taste is more dry than expected, hoppy bitterness, cookies, cakes and some spices. afthertaste is strong, dry and hoppy. Nice beer.
