Cloudy amber with pillows tan head. aroma mostly obscured by the head. Thick and sweet with bitter finish. Strong finish of carbonation. I used to live down the block from these guys, so drinking a Columbus always brings back good memories.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thick like syrup. Not the easiest beer in Amsterdam to drink as it’s quite creamy and a little bit sour.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught at the t’Ij brewpub, Amsterdam. Dark amber, hazy body, with a medium, very creamy, white head, that leaves a full lacing. Aroma is a bit light, with dried fruits, burnt sugar, some citrus. Tastes of dried fruits, caramel, nuts, chocolate, some fruity hop notes like citrus and tangerine. Mouthfeel is medium, oily, with a lively carbonation and it finishes bitter, a bit sweet and with sour dried fruits. Nice. Petty easy to drink despite the high ABV and with nice dried fruit notes. But overall I’ve had much better beers of this style.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Hazy red-brown with a large white head. The aroma is fruity with caramel and toasted notes, some yeast and maybe just a hint of spices. The flavour is smooth, sweet and fruity, again with caramel and a lightly yeasty finish. Nice, interesting.

Strong ale with thick head, amber colour, misty; fruity and spicy aroma with caramel- and nut-like malts, taste fruity with yeasty spiciness, lots of caramel malts, finishing assertively hoppy with some warming alcohol. Another interesting brew from ’t IJ.
