Bottle @ Chez Bruce. Deep brown, small head. Very toasty. Plenty of dark malts. Roasted nuts. Pine cone. The taste has a bit of shag tobacco. A bit of ragged ribbon candy, caramel, cherry skin. Medium body, very fizzy. OK.

Scopey (7178) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 9, 2014
Bottle at Bruceís. It pours darkest brown with a thick tan head. The nose is rich, roasty, grapefruit, soapy, orange peel and cocoa. The taste is bitter, piney, roasty, grapefruit, soap, varnish, light caramel and dark chocolate with a dry, lingering bitter finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Pretty solid stuff.

Bottle shared during Black IPA night in London - big thanks to K-Bird. Pours clear, deep brown with a thick, frothy beige head. The aroma holds dry cocoa, burnt wood, moderate roast, earth. Light to medium sweet flavor with bitter scorched earth, baking cocoa, mild burnt meat, toasted pine. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. More earthy bitterness to finish, some bittersweet chocolate, mellow alcohol, lasting roast, charred wood. Slow starter but strong finisher. Good beer.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a very dark brown with a medium brown head and a sweet aroma of malts, cherries, brown sugar, caramel and bread. The taste is a bit hoppier and more on the bitter side, with some sweetness and a tiny bit of yeastiness. Good beer!

Black bodied and tan head. Not as thick as expected though. Coffee, resin hops. Aromatic but not quite as rich as I hoped. Yeast is cleaner than Iím used to for ít IJ. Bubbly mouth feel, bit too carbonated. I really wanted to love this, but although itís tasty for sure, my hopes were a bit too high... (33cl bottle from Paris St BiŤre)

Bottle. Pours a blackish brown beer with a big beige head on top. Aroma is yeasty, licorice, earthy hops and caramel malts. Medium fruity. Flavor is medium bittersweet, touches of both licorice and much juicy bitter hops. Hop character is not really defined in this beer, but certainly there. Medium short, light bitter aftertaste. Very decent.

Beautiful bottle. Deep dark brown colour, big foamy beige head. Surprisingly sweet hoppy nose with citrus fruits, strawberry but also some porter/stout tones to be distinguished like (roasted) coffee and cacao. These tones come back in the taste with mainly sweetness and citrus hops in the mouth and a roasty, dry aftertaste: near perfectly balanced, surprising and complex. Firm body, relatively high carbonation but very drinkable with a pleasant mouthfeel. Definitely a beer Iíd recommend.
