Bottle @ Huppel, The Hague. Pours almost black with a thick brown head. Aroma is malty, coffee, licorice, some pine, light hoppy and some grapefruit. Taste is smooth and well balanced. Moderate bitter (expected a lot more bitterness) and moderate sweet. Well balanced, but more like a stout. Nonetheless good smoothness and a roasty finish. Medium bodied.

Bottle 33cl. A Black beer with a generous foamy brownish head. In the nose there is first fruits vinous, cherry syrup, followed by roasty, coffee, floral, smokey, licorice. It is a medium bodied beer, with a good carbonation. The taste is malty, dry bittersweet and coffee bitter. The aftertaste is dry bitter with spicy/herbal undertones. One of my favorites beers from ’t IJ, a good bipa. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Bierkoning. Pretty, opaque black pour with thick lacy tan foam. Aroma is really hoppy, nice citrusy, grapefruit aroma, some peppery hop aromas as well, light piney/sprucey notes, light roasted malt. Taste is bitter, mild bitterness for a black IPA. The roasted malt is kept well in check, no acrid flavors, really fruity, citrusy hop flavor. Palate is med bodied with light-medium carb. Very nice.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Roast, licorice, grass and grapefruit in the aroma. Firm roast and hopbitter flavor with licorice, citrus, white pepper and grassy notes. Flavors come and go and do not Always get together well. But this is a nice beer.

Bottle 33cl. Black as night, generous foamy brownish head, collapses slowly, good lacing; aroma at first very fruity, vinous, cherry syrup, followed by roasty, coffee, floral, spruce, herbs, smoky, licorice; malty and dry bittersweet taste, kinda coffee bitterness; full body, creamy texture; dry bitter finish, spicy/herbal undertones.
