Our bokbier that rings in the autumn every year. Dark and full-bodied, but not as sweet as you would expect. The fine, light brown head holds for a long time while the dark, black-brown beer releases the aromas of the roasted malt: brown sugar, caramel and beautiful, dark fruit. The aftertaste is pleasantly dry.

Sample at the source, Pours a hazy reddish brown color with medium beige head that lasts. Notes are caramel, grapes, fig, plums, brown sugar, and brown malts. Its not overly sweet especially in the flavor which has a nice balance and dryness. Not my thing but glad I tried it from a friends glass.

Keg at the brewpub. Hazed orange / caramel brown coloured pour with a lasting sticky cream head. Aroma is raw grains, earthy toasted malts, hobey, and a little jammy fruits. Flavour is composed if toasted brown bread, honey, caramel, strawberry jam, grain store. Palate is semi sweet, moderate carbonation and done rough grains. Warming alcohol.

Bottle from Dirk III in Hardinxveld. The beer is dark ruby red colored and pours a stable cream colored head, with lots of bubbles. The aroma is roasted malts with some tones of caramel, dark fruits and some brown sugar. Shame its not that strong. The taste is a nice balance between the sweetness of caramel and liquorice and the bitterness of coffee and some spices. The finish is light bitter and dry. Good brew again from Brouwerij t IJ

Pours a dark chestnut red brown, with a beige head that lasts only seconds before wisping across the top of the beer. Aroma is heavily yeast and slightly burnt caramel. Thankfully it tastes rich and smooth, of caramel, brown sugar, malt and yeast. Leaving a malty taste on your palate.

0,33 l bottle, bought somewhere in NL, best before 9/2015. Clear, dark red with a medium large, foamy, almost stable, tan head. Sweetish aroma of raisins, nuts, caramel and molasses. Sweetish taste of caramel, nuts, raisins and coffee. Medium long, slightly bitter finish with a solid amount of coffee. Medium body, slightly oily and creamy mouthfeel, average carbonation. Decent bock. Round, not overly sweet and with a special note of roasted malts.

Appearance: A copper brown with a nice 2 fingers sized off white head. Aroma: Caramelised malts, chocolate, roasted malts, spices, Taste: Bittersweet ( Avoiding the too sweet Dutch macro bok taste) roasted malts, chocolate end caramel with hints of dark fruit. Finishing dry. medium body, slightly below average carbonation. Good bock beer. And in the 80s when it was launched probably the best Dutch dark bock beer out there.

PotjeBier (2077) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - MAY 4, 2015
Notes from late 80s. Had this every year, from bottle & tap, from the beginning, when this was still a dry-hopped bock bier and when it could be quite different from year to year. This rating from the 1989 version. Dark color. Aromas: fresh hops, quite bitter, roasted malts, droppig. Flavor: moderate sweet, moderate bitter. Medium bodied. Rather dry and bitter finish. Those were the days....

330ml Bottle (Moeders, Amsterdam) - Dark brown in colour. Raisins, toffee and some treacle in the aroma. Malty, fruity and slightly chewy taste with black treacle, raisins, marzipan and a hint of spice. An enjoyable bock.
