COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
One of our flagship beers, slightly different in flavour every year! A splendid, maroon-coloured beer with fine aromas of spiced fruit, orange peel and well-roasted malt to delight the nose. The flavour is a spicy balance of caramel, citrus and slightly bitter hops to restore that warm feeling during the dark days of winter. If stored in a cool, dark place, IJndejaars will keep for years.

Note: Until 2005 called IJndejaars, from 2006 until 2008 called Turbock and in 2009 they started using the old name IJndejaars again.

Ruddy dark copper at teh edges with a deeper reddish brown in the middle. The head is yellowish khaki and is long lasting. The aroma is rich caramel and cherries with some cinnamon rasin bread. The taste has some notes of toffee and black tea. There is also some woody resin. Thick and sticky in the mouthfeel, this is a sipper. Nicely made.

Pours a dirty caramel color with billowy rocky head, bits of yeast on the head as well. Looks like dark tea after adding lemon. Yeasty sweet, caramel, some tart spicy alcohol, some raisin. Spicy alcohol up front, peppery, sharp bubbles, slight sweetness on the middle with sharp bitterness on sides and back of the tongue. some metal on the finish with some astringency and bandaid. Some vegetal notes on the finish. Fruityness opens as it warms. Pretty complex but a little hot and unbalanced I feel.

Rich orangy brown, massive tight head. Big fruity and spicy aroma - clove and dark fruits - some malt too. Big malty sweet taste - some sour tinge too. Warming alcohol and fruity - solid malty brew.

Bottle. [thank you, Skortila!]
[vintage 2006]
Beautiful clear amber - lots of microscobic floaters around in the liquid. Wonderful creamy yellow-beige head. Okay lacing. Aroma is sweet, lightly funky and a wonderful deep fruitiness. Lots of prunes especially. Rather lively mouthfeel but still very full. Flavour is slightly metallic, otherwise wonderful again. Nice warming viniousness amidst oranges, prunes, burnt malts. This is truly a nice beer.

Tap at the brewery. Cloudy mid chestnut, thin off-white head. Nose is wheaty with some lively lemon and wintery fruit. Mouth is slightly metallic wheaty, warm and fruity. Slight spirit burn, fruity and watery end.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm) Ruby red colour with frothy beige head. Fruity, spicy, slightly yeasty nose with notes of dried fruit, dark berries and spicy hops. Fruity taste with lots of dark berries, fiery alcohol sweetness and a generous dose of spicy hops in the finish. Medium to full body. Warming and very tasty beer. Nice stuff!

Bottle. Bronze-coloured with orange notes and a tan head. Some sediment. Sharp Brettanomyces aroma blending with herbal hops. Reminds me of their Orvalesque Columbus. Flavour attack: Sweet caramel fights with Brettanomyces, but loses towards the finish. Very good, but I think I prefer the Columbus.

bottle 33 cl. Pours a dark brown with a small tan head and a muddy, earthy and smokey aroma. The flavor is dominated by smoked malts, but has hints of ripe red fruits, brown sugar, caramel, espresso and red wine vinegar too. The finish is long and mostly bitter and smokey. A very nice bock

[2004 vintage] Pours hazy red with medium off white head. Yeasty aroma. Yeasty and fruity taste. Hides alcohol well.
