COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
One of our flagship beers, slightly different in flavour every year! A splendid, maroon-coloured beer with fine aromas of spiced fruit, orange peel and well-roasted malt to delight the nose. The flavour is a spicy balance of caramel, citrus and slightly bitter hops to restore that warm feeling during the dark days of winter. If stored in a cool, dark place, IJndejaars will keep for years.

Note: Until 2005 called IJndejaars, from 2006 until 2008 called Turbock and in 2009 they started using the old name IJndejaars again.

Tap@The Beer Circus, Croydon, London. This was my first beer of the night and quite a hefty one to start on. Typical yeasty character that all t’Ij beers seem to have. Definitely on the sweet and slightly sticky side of things, with some dark fruit and caramel, with some light spice. Lots of warming alcohol. A big malty beer, pretty good.

Bottle. Amber, hazy. Nice malty, slight sweet nose with ripe fruityness. Fuller body, pretty soft smooth texture. Sweet, but doesn’t cloy, finish balanced. Ripe fruits- I’m thinking some peaches, apricots, some exotics even. Nice belgian strong ale.

It’s hard to pinpoint the style of this beer, the melting pot label of Belgian strong ale is perhaps most suited. It’s a malty, yeasty and full bodied beer with lots of spices and nuances. Good.

Bottle, CAJS, shared with Nataša & Srđan - thanks! Murky dark amber body. Light sweetish aroma, rosehip, honey - yeasty. Sweet taste, spicy, light cloves - despite being on the sweet side, I found it was quite nice.

Bottle 330 ml at home, traded with Countbeer, thanks! Into a tulip glass, ABV 9%. Deep red colour on the body, slighty hazy. Two fingers of light beige head, thick, with good retention. Big wall of lacing left covering the glass after the head has collapsed. Aroma of caramel, red fruits, malts, sugar. Taste follows the aroma in a way. There is the caramel and red fruits, but also some grains, marmalade, sugars, a touch of alcohol but other than than very well hidden, even some vinous notes every now and then, notable mainly on the finish. Medium body, I expected it a bit thicker for some reason but it is still okay, good amount of carbonation, a bit sticky on the palate. Overall a really tasty beer, would make a great winter warmer, I am sure.

Bottle in the Hemelvaart Bier Café, Bedale. Amber with a cream head. Slightly sour, fruity and yeasty aroma. Sweet at first before plenty of Christmas spice. Some caramel and citrus hop notes too. Maybe a touch too much spice after a while, but still very good.

Hazy dark amber with medium light beige head. Orange, dried candied fruits, touch of roasted malts, cherry, light spices and light hoppy finish. Sweet with long light bitter and tart finish. Medium bodied with full carbonation. Good.
