Formerly called t IJ Scharrel IJwit A full-bodied, Amsterdam wheat beer that is dangerously moreish. Slightly cloudy, it has a beautiful golden colour and a soft, foamy head. When we brew IJwit, we use wheat malt as well as barley malt, which is also how the beer gets its name. The wheat malt gives the beer a delightful, fresh flavour, and the addition of coriander and lemon during the brewing process produces a rich aroma of banana, citrus and spices. Topped off by a fine, slightly sweet aftertaste, IJwit is a delicious thirst-quencher.

Sampled at brewery and also at another bar in Amsterdam. Pours orange with medium white head. Notes are very well balanced between coriander, and orange peel, yeast, and fruity malts. Nice medium mouthfeel. Well done.

Keg at the brewpub. Translucent yellow / straw coloured pour with a lasting thin white froth. Aroma is delicate spices, orange peel and coriander seeds with doughy wheat. Flavour is composed of rounded wheat grains doughy bread, a little flabby. Orange rind and some spices, palate is wheat grains, spritzy carbonation, flabby. OK wit.

Bottle from work. Im not a huge wheat beer fan but this really impressed me. Maybe because it was dryer, crisper, more carbonated and more refreshing than your typical bubblegum banana wheat beer (even nice ones like Weihenstephaner I cant totally get behind). Lemony and peppery flavour, nice lasting soft bubbly soapy carbonation that lasted throughout the glass. Borderline Saison territory. Pretty solid brewery.

Delikatnie "szczypie" w podniebienie i j?zyk.Alkohol: nie wyczuwalny, cho? jestem przekonany, ?e w upalny dzie?, zamiast orze?wia? mo?e sponiewiera?.Bardzo dobry wit, g?adki, mi?kki, pijalny.

Beautiful golden hay colour, lightly opaque and with lots of column bubblies on the surface. Smell is lightly citric with cereals, white pepper and a touch of coriander. Some very subtle alcoholic fruitiness. Taste is bitter sweet. Citric with a light cherry sweetness. Very refreshing with a nice fizz. Finish is astringent but fruity. Well balanced. Slight sourness, typical of t Ij.

Bottle from somewhere in Amsterdam. Was a great beer on a hot summer day, light yellow pour. Sweet, little bit of lemon, certainly some sort of citrus but still the classic banana flavor youd expect. Surprisingly high alcohol content. I liked it.
