This beer has the same smell as most ’t IJ bieren and i sometimes describe this smell as vomit. Taste is also not that good. Mouthfeel scored pretty good though!

This beer is just no good: it doesn’t look right, it doesn’t smell right, it doesn’t taste right. Only the carbs are ok for a 6.5 ABV.

Bottle at Huppel. Pours murky brown with off white head. Aroma is yeasty sour. Same aspects in flavor but with chocolate and caramel. Not a great beer

Martinus (663) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - MAY 18, 2011
Slightly hazy dark reddish brown body, off-white head. Aroma quite malty, pronounced caramel, moderate hoppy with yeast tones. Flavour moderately sweet, caramel, fudge, rather creamy mouthfeel (maybe also because of the quite light carbonation) with a pleasant bitterness. (draught -taster- @ the brewery)

On tap at Brouwerij ’t Ij, Amsterdam on 3 April 2011. Murky dark copper-orange colour. Quite spicy. A little sweetness initially but develops a herbal bitter tang - hints of angostura - later. Some toffee / caramel and hints of stewed plums on the palate. Dryish, fairly firm mouthfeel, which is not always the case with Abbey Dubbels.

Dark brown beer with a quite big and blond head. Aroma is roasted, hint of caramel and some vegetables. Taste is dark malty, some dark fruits and sourness. Nice to drink, lots of carbonation. Simple, moderate and even tasteless beer, more flavours would be needed.
